With all of this left back talk, is anyone looking forward to seeing Julian prooving himself at Championship level. He certainly didn't hold back the other night, looked the Julian we loved in League 1, but can he perform at this level? :)

Lol, we're going to loan our only left back. We're f***ing genius.

In fairness, he does need to be getting some match fitness at a lower level before getting into our team. To step straight back into the Championship after the length of time he's been out will likely destroy his confidence and/or lead to another injury.

At the very least, Julian will be a decent valuable squad member.

He deservedly won Player of the Year in the League One promotion season, and of course as a local lad, he loves the club to bits.

He played only 11 or so Championship games in a poor side, so don't judge him on that; Billy seems to rate him too.

Personally I think he can make the step-up to Championship level; consider others of our players who some suggested wouldn't cut it in the Championship (many doubted Kelvin and Big Wes for example) and how they've improved under the coaching of Billy and his staff; I think Jules will too, he has all the physical attributes and the attitude, and the lad deserves a break after the injury plagued last 18 months he's had!

I'd like to be able to agree with you there mate, but I just cant see it. I think Jules is a great lad who would run through fire for this team, but I just don't think thats enough for where we are right now, and once again he's just a centre half converted into a left back.

For too long now we've been simply making do with square pegs in round holes and I think we desperately need to move on from that.

There are going to be a lot of disappointed people on here who get watery eyed about any of our players, especially when they suddenly become dispensible. If we go up to the Prem, please be prepared for us replacing all but maybe 2 or 3 of our wonderful, local and otherwise lads. BTW, I love it when local lads play for the club, but I'm realistic enough to see their shortfalls.

I love the way that people keep saying players love the club.
Growing up they were playing football on a Saturday, not down the City Ground. I imagine that any player was a fair weather fan at most.

bennet only has this season to proove his worth so he will be eagar to perform.

he was a class act in league one, remember his crunching tackles, his screamer against yeovil and his cameo morgan-esque runs :D

If they were signed to Forest from a young age they were likely required to be at the Forest matches. Although I wasn't at Forest, I was required to attend my clubs home league matches. We would play our games in a morning, so that there was time to get to the ground.

If thats the case then they are there free? Its not like scraping the pennies together to go see them off your own back is it?

I think Bennett will be an interesting case in point. A lot of people saying he can't make the step up, but this is what we said about Wilson last season.

Not at all. When I was younger I played cricket and/or worked on a Saturday, doesn't mean I was a fair weather fan.

Bennett will be good cover for the left-back position once he gets back to full fitness but he is not a long-term solution to the recurring problem position. He is certainly better than Lynch who looked like a cart horse at Mansfield.

I think there is a good chance of getting Shorey at the end of next month. To the best of my knowledge he is not being heavily linked with a Premiership move and I'm sure he would rather come here then rot in Villa's reserves for the season.

I think he can make the step up to the championship, but perhaps not enough so to aid a 'promotion bid' that seems to be apparently going on around here??

I'm not sure he'll be 100% the same player as he was before, but I think a fully fit Bennett would have made a massive difference against Blackpool in place of Perchy.

Will be nice to see somebody out there proud to wear the shirt, rather him him out there than some **** who wants to hold out for more money, i.e Shorey. Even though he really balanced out the team and made us so much stronger, id still rather see the ghetto back 3 of Kelv, Jules and Wes, throw a bit of youth at right back with Gunts ans theres no stopping us... till one gets injured!

I would be proud to wear the shirt it's not just down to pride and how much you love a club there's something else that is important too and that is whether they are any good or not.
Shorey made a more positive impact in a couple of months than Bennett has in all his years at forest.
