Great stuff - thanks for sharing that link!

In the video, while Colin is commenting on the goal, you can see Formerredscaptainjohnmcgovernwhoisnexttohim. :)

Given the quality of view from the gantry it never ceases to amaze me how the commentators have any idea what happened at all :)

I think different people appreciate the game on different levels. Its shocking to me the level of detail people see a football game in. I presume Fray is one of those sort.

Some people can see patterns in the game, they also read what the opposition are doing, they know who's doing what off the ball, it amazes me. To be honest, I don't know who's scored sometimes!

I remember reading something about Hans Bache the other week. I think the Notts chairman was sat next to him and he commented about the way things were panning out, only for Bache to start listing what was wrong with the way Notts were lining up, and what to do about it.

I think some people don't get this, and say football pundits and managers aren't that "skilled". I disagree, its really quite hard to follow 90 minutes of football in real detail, I think that's what makes good managers ... and commentators!

Lol, can't blame the ale. Hang overs might not help though ...

Its the kind of goal that's scored from a free kick or goes pinging round in the box before going in off Wes Morgan's arse. Somebody like Colin Fray would probably pick that up straight away.

I have to say I always thought Wobin was in a studio @ the BBC building rather than actually a the ground with Fray and the commentary team. As they say, every days a school day

It's actually really impressive that he can present in situ like that, speaking whilst simultaneously listening to instructions/timings/keeping track of incoming news from elsewhere generally without any kind of visual prompt.

Watching that was really interesting.

I know Robin is usually pitchside throughout the game only I didn't realise where Colin and John were sitting. For some reason, I thought they were up in the Gods with a bird's eye view of the game. They must really get pissed off when some of the fans in front decide to wave their arms during the match. lol

Are they under the Upper Clough section down near the away fans?

On promotion day against Yeovil, Chippers was constantly updating Calderwood on events at Cheltenham.
