Hopefully not all in the same pub :nowink:
A real ale pub with a chippy close by somewhere along the A635 which goes to Barnsley from the A1 for me ;D

metrodome can fit 4-500 in, even more if they open the top bars around the indoor pitches. town centre will be an almost no go area for away fans if you manage to sneak into town away from the old bill, given the potential for trouble you will be showing tickets at pub doors to get in.
Those lucky enough to get into a town centre pub will run the risk of getting a dig and or verbal abuse. the protection that you will get in town will be minimal.
Those coming on the train will be escorted to one of three/four pubs. The prince, and some shitholes up sheffield road. Also, those with no ticket or they suspect of being up for a bit of trouble will be put straight back on the train. Those coming by car, theres parking at the ground but its hell to get out. Theres an away carpark which is a slight improvement on the main one as you get between your coaches on the way out in the escort. Also, some of the streets can be a bit tasty with the tracksuit bottom wearing types, loads of fat sunderland fans parked up near the hospital and some oft hem were not to clever and doled out some f*** off away from ym car to a few kids. .. You can guess the rest.
Those by coach it will be the metrodome or in the ground. You maybe ok for a drink in the mount but no promises given on that. towns 10 mins walk away.

I would also say a big thank you to uncle billy for lighting the blue touch paper with his crass comments.

I'll be stopping off in Sheffield for beer or two (probably some poncey continental lager) before heading to Barnsley.

Thanks mate, nice one.

Just checked the Google maps and it appears Metrodome is only a few hundred metres from the ground. Perfect.

Coaches leave Nottingham at 11:30 ... should be in by about 1pm, right?

Cheers for the advice mate, but don't make out it's Helmand Province, will you? Fact is it's Barnsley and we've faced much worse I'm sad to say. Sure there will be a few venturing into Barnsley due mainly to its proximity to ground. Depending on arrival times that number will increase and will include us lot. I'm not keen on drinking in a youth club ('metrodome') that's for sure

Thanks for your advice but 93 aside never had any bother in Barnsley Town Centre. The occassional gobby chav yes but the minute you call their bluff surprice surprice they don't want to know. Last time the Police did plonk a van outside the pub we were in but certainly didn't try and turf us out. Obviously appreciate things may be different tomorrow but like I say 1993 aside never experienced any hassle getting in pubs and the day I start worrying about Barnsley away is the day I probably jack it all in

it depends on what mood SYP is in. Normally they hold coaches on the sliproad at 37 and bring them all intogether including the beer monster coaches.
Oh and Silly, SYP are a complete pain in the arse. Normally in a game of this magnitude they block off the station platform and collar anyone who 'looks' like a footy fan and tickets checked. this goes for home and away fans, its an absolute nightmare. The last time I decided to come through on the day of the game it took 45 mins to get through the plod and out. Half a dozen sheff utd also sneaked through and got into a town centre pub. They were not allowed to leave the pub until 3.15pm. Then taken to the ground for half time.
Alot of the more popualr pubs tend to have doormen on especially those around the station. They do check tickets as a rule. and have big signs saying no away fans, home fans only. SYP have physically removed away fans from pubs and made them go to the pub of their choosing.
As for helmand, theres more afghans in Barnsley than there

A lot of Forest will have had some experience of the S. Yorkshire constabulary, so cheers for that but we've not had our heads in the sand for x number of years especially the last 10 or so the Police have got away with the most unlawful tactics when it come to football fans or groups of lads.

All the best.

I am seriously excited about this now. Except my transport home could be in pieces if our Barnsley contact The UprightMan is to be believed as my mates car has a non removable Forest tax disc in the window. Sweet.

I'm going in an old pit wagon with horses, so I'm doubly f**ked. They'll probably eat the horses too.
