I've not seen this posted anywhere so far, but Jermaine Beckford has been transfer listed by LUFC. He's got 12 months left of his contract, so he wouldn't cost more than £1.5m IMO. Is there a place for him in our front line?
Em Jay** said:As for Beckford, he wouldn't come here. He's had premiership interest in the past and I think if he was going to leave Leeds it'd be for a bigger club that us.
Newcastle or Boro would be a likely destination I reckon.

He's not been hugely effective for Leeds, though, has he.
Was he the guy on loan at Sc**thorpe or was that someone else?
Perhaps Steve could weigh in and give a bit more information of the alleged 't**tishness' of the lad. I heard he was a bit fo a Roy Kean, in the sense that he is loyal to Leeds for plucking him from the doldrums of Sunday League football.

He's got talent, and he's got pace. And he's got ego. And he's got attitude. And a temper. And a nasty streak. And he's selfish.
Thing is, you forgive a man if he gets you in the region of 30 goals in a season.
Beckford would be a huge loss to Leeds, but I don't see him as being much of a gain above mid-table in the Championship.
He's effective in the air, but not brilliant, and works best up front with a 'Big Man', typical British No. 9 who will do the bullying of the Centre Backs for him. He can be marked out of a game if the CB's are concentrated enough, but he has the skill and talent to be able to pounce on any lapses.
I would bracket him as the same level of player as Joe Garner, certainly skill, ability and potential wise, though he lacks Garner's application. He's less of a worker, and seems to have a 'things will happen' attitude, instead of a 'I'll make things happen' one.
He can score some spectacular goals, and tends to turn out when the cameras are there, though as people saw in the P/O final, and as I mention above, if a tough CB gets the better of him early on (As Whitbread did), he can be marked out of the game if the other CF doesn't come to help him out.
He could, possibly, make it for a Wigan/Bolton/Blackburn type Premier League team, but it's likely he'll spend most of his career a la Freddy Eastwood. Full of promise, but ending up at a Coventry/Crystal Palace/Ipswich type 'This year we'll push for the Play Off's' Championship side.
He would improve your squad, but not your team, in my honest opinion. And if he doesn't get down with 'Billy's ways' early on, he would be a detrimental signing for Forest.
Personally, I think he'll end up at QPR, or more likely, he'll go back to Scunthorpe if they can find the cash.

He might have matured since then but the likes of Billy Sharp , Freddy Eastwood , Luke Varney etc all failed to step up even though they were lethal in league one.
If we get Blackstock , we don't need Beckford. We already have Earnie to score the goals.

How about you engage your brain before you post insults.
No typo mate, I've not seen him much beyond a few seconds on 'The Championship'. Was basing it more on the fact that you guys have missed out on automatic promotion twice now, and your defensive record isn't too shabby. Infact, I'd say you have one of the best goalkeepers in the league at the minute there.
You've obviously seen a lot more of him than anyone else on these boards, so I take your word as FACT.
