On paper he's the best candidate we've had for some while, we shall see I suppose!

Sometimes I really have confidence in him, other times he worries me - but regardless of the outcome of this season, I fear we can't judge him properly until he's had a full pre-season of preparations and a chance to build the squad he wants.

He is expierenced and successful at this level in recent times with sides that shouldn't be succeeding in this division. As you said he points out the failings in the board room and on the pitch instantly and he tells fans exactly what they need to hear to feel assured that bad performances are not acceptable.

I am sure the board have not liked some of his interviews in which he has stated their issues such as the transfer policy etc. etc. but in the long run I think they will come to understand that he was right in what he was saying.

What impresses me most is his ambition but with realism. I love his plans for the future of the club the players he wants to bring into the club and the direction he wants to take us. He is already planning for next season in the championship which for me motivates players more and instills a bit of confidence in the supporters. He has made it clear that the situation at this club needs changing and he has made it clear how he wants to change it and I think under him this club does have a bright future.

my only gripe has been inconsistent comments to the media that you just wouldnt get from the likes of fergie, who tends to not bad mouth players in public then praise the next week...the same with fans !

but that said i think we can be ok under his guidance and i feel come the end of season he may well have a bit of a clear out of some dead wood...but only if we can get the new recruits in that he wants.....so i just hope the board back this one and let him pick the players....he understands football, chairmen dont.

No wonder my post count..
He fills the fans with confidence which is what I feel is the first requirement for any football manager.

Welcome Bazooka. ;D

When Mr William McIntosh Davies first joined us I was sceptical yet I believed he was the best available candidate for the job at the time. I think my reservations were based upon what I'd heard and what I'd read rather than his proven track record with Preston and Derby.

I don't think he will ever be the most popular of managers with the fans, the players and the board and there will be many who believe he's doing things only for his own benefit rather than that of Nottingham Forest. For the moment, it's one and the same thing for me. Results = success = support.

His personal success will be our success and I do think we will succeed.

1.31 points per game for Billy since he came in. That's not bad at all, especially with what he has had at his disposal (it projects to 60 over a 46 game season). It's too early to judge, and we need to achieve safety before anything, but he hasn't done at all badly so far. The problem has been that results have come in spurts and then been followed up with series of losses. We've never really found any consistency. I think he'll get a job done if we stay up. IF.

Is he the man for the job? Absolutely.

Manager gets booted from the job at Derby, comes to Forest and shows the shit side of East Midlands what they missed out on.

Sounds like I've heard that before somewhere....

Really do feel he is the right man. I will look forward to next season immensley if we remain a championship side. Does infuritate me in the media from time to time, especially early on in his reign but if we're doing well on the pitch then we can't moan.

Usually tactically astute as well which is nice and we are up for the fight :)

Welcome mate !

I personally think BD is currently facing one of his greatest learning curves as a manager to date ! He does have the talent for a squad doing well ! He has shown his ability to pull the odd rabbit out of his hat already and I think he may be the best appointment ND has made at the helm of the club so far !

I also think he is learning of the expectations of the Forest fans. If we play like battlers but loe then we will give the credit where credit is due. We don't accept wage collectors !

The Forest job needs a manager that believes in themselves, is one hundred percent committed to the club and wants to succeed (preferably to settle some score with the sheep botherers) - Billy is all of those things

I have been very impressed with him since his arrival, with the players he's managed to bring in on loan and with the way he has handled the situation. He has done his best to address the problems and I'm looking forward to seeing who he brings in during the summer - I have a feeling that Mr Doughty could be spending heavily 8)

ND seems to want to back BD to the tilt judging by comments past ! he will bring us the players required. Does anyone know this division better ?

Unfortunately , he does seemed to have his blindside like playing Perch regularly and putting him as captain.

Welcome to the forum,

I see BD as the best candidate we have had for many a year, abrasive and single minded. Look forward to the future with him. Slightly worried about his previous tendancy to hold seemingly hold a gun to the clubs head in the past, yet I am confident enough that ND will mamage that side of him, leaving BD to concentrate on football alone.

Love the fact that he must have been hurt and wounded at the treatment he received at the sheep pen, nothing like a proud man with a point to prove.

Many people complain that Billy is abrasive, arrogant and cocky, and prone to outbursts in the media.

Still, that never hurt Messrs Ferguson and Mourinho, did it?

One thing Billy does not lack is confidence; he does seem to be a good motivator, and that's what we need. We've so many young players (as he keeps telling us!) I firmly believe that we have the makings of an excellent team here, and in Billy, we've absolutely got the right man for the job.

So what if he comes across as an arrogant b*stard? He's *our* b*stard, and that's all that matters!

I think the comments concerning Garner etc. have been a message. To say he is not good enough and I am not accepting it. I like that in a manager it reassures me he has standards and is doing his job.

That'd pretty much do us.

That heap of s**te team would still p**sed all over the pile of crap disguised as our team.

Comments concerning some of the players are not really good for morale after a loss , is it ? It's just like megson blaming one and all but himself. You don't see Fergie or Mourinho heaping all the blame on the players like Billy did.

Clough was not slow to air his players faults in public, following a 4-0 loss at Everton he called them a bunch of Pansies on national television, he was a successful manager

Oh , comparing Davies to clough now , is it ? Clough era is long and gone. Brian's management style would not have survived this day and age. I really have no problem with Billy , i just have reservations that when things goes badly , he is always quick to shoot from the hip and point fingers at everyone but himself because Billy Davies is faultless.

Welcome to the Forum firstly, I would not be too worried about grammar on here. There are a few who will complain but in the main they are ignored.

Personally, I think BD is like Marmite but I also think he represents our best chance of getting some pride and a modicum of respect back in and for the club.
