Yea, i'm pretty sure Geoff Thomas is a previous recipient of the Helen Rollason award, who were all invited on stage when Major Phil Packer received the award.

Which brings me to why do people insist on calling him Dee-lee Adebola. As someone who spent four years in Lagos I can assure you that the the locals pronounce it Dell- lee.

On a side note I thought the way it was presented all around was total garbage this year. What happened to the detail? In past years they went more in depth into the events that happened that shaped the sporting year with each major sport getting about their fair crack.

Take tennis for one thing. Small bit about the US Open, then blah-blah Andy Murray. No mention of how any of the four Grand Slams turned out (apart from the Women's final at the U.S. Open) or some of the events (like the Williams tantrum.) And it was like that for pretty much every sport all the way through.

Athletics too barely even got a mention. Formula 1, boxing, both versions of rugby. Oh, and lets not even mention darts and forget everything that Phil Taylor has done. Yep. It was crap.

The voting was very tight this year. Dele was edged out by just 2% of the vote by some nobody named Giggs. A travesty.
