Bale & Shorey

Yes there are Bale & Shorey posts and both have been done to a turn but this is the Mirrors take on both today at 22:06.

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...-swoop-for-Bale-and-Shorey-article260551.html

Billy Davies is ready to splash £6m on Gareth Bale and Nicky Shorey to boost Nottingham Forest's charge for the Premier League.

Davies wants the cash to fund an ambitious £3m raid on Spurs for Wales international Bale, 20, who can leave White Hart Lane in January.

And the Scot is also keen to open talks with Aston Villa over a permanent £3m deal for defender Shorey.

The ex-Reading star, 28, is in the middle of a month's loan at Forest but Davies wants to bring him to the City Ground on a long-term contract.

Do you find information on the web, and try to post it as if it was your own?

You don't do it as well as others.

Do you think they just read forums and see what everyone else is speculating about then print it!?

Hope to get both, that would be class, but I cant see us shelling out another 6 million in January. That would be ridiculous wouldn't it!?

Knowing our transfer tactics we'll probably try to get both for around 3 million in total! 8)

I really don't think we'll need to offer £3m for Shorey. The way the transfer panel has got on so far I think he'll come in for somewhere arounf £1.2m-£1.5m if we actually try to bring him in after the loan.

If we want to sign both of them where does this leave Gunter? He's been immense this year from what ive heard! Do you think if we bring in these two quality players that it will possibly see an end on Julian Bennets Forest career?

Erm, at right back while Shorey or Bale would be on the left hand side.

Bale and Shorey?

We're just getting greedy now, at this rate we'll have two full teams which are better than Derby's :D

The ideal scenario would be - we draw Direby in say the FA cup (having previously pasted them 5-1 in the league) and put out OUR SECOND STRING and still beat them. This would of course be this season, 'cos we'll be in different leagues next.

So does Davies see Bale as a winger? Because it seems a bit ridiculous getting them both. If it was a choice out of the two id probably opt for Shorey. He's older but proven and we have a youngish team anyway.

And yes, this is the end of Bennett's career, unfortunately. There is no guarantee he can even make it back to this level yet. He will have pretty much missed 2 years of football by the time he's back. Julian would, however, be remembered very foundly in a time when there wasn't much to be happy about at Forest.

Yep, the limited times I've seen him, he's looked an accomplished attacking left sided player. Would be awesome. I doubt we could get much better for around 3 million

This doesn't give me hope about us signing Shorey on a permanent

O'Neill rules out fresh faces
Villa boss not looking to strengthen in January

"Things change - but as we speak I don't think we'll be bringing people in unless somebody has left the club.

"I know it is only round the corner, and January is a long month, but I have not had any discussions with the owner about what we might do.

"There's obviously interest in quite a number of my players, but I'd be loathe to see too many leave.

If we did get these two in, then yes it would be the end of Julian Bennet. If Shorey and Bale got injured then Cohen has been good enough. He would always get a warm welcome if he was ever to return though.

If we get another centre back it would probably be the end of Joel Lynch too.

Gunter = Right back, Bale and Shorey = left back/wingback/left winger and left back.

Given his recuperation time so far Bennett's Forest career is already on the brink.

You worry too much. He says he would be loathe to see too many leave and that couls mean anything.

He will know that Forest will want Shorey in Jan and if that was not a strong possibility then he would not have loaned him out. Now calm down

It's a typical manager comment when they're tryingto squeeze a bit more money out of a buying club. Preston "wouldn't" sell Mckenna, Tottenham didn't want to sell Gunter, etc...

It's Baggio

John Robertson
I think there's more chance of another Premier League team nipping in and taking him than there is of Villa not selling.

I watched a bit of Wolves v Burnley yesterday and their respective left backs were Stephen Ward and Stephen Jordan. Shorey is far better than both.

dbarraclough

Viv Anderson
Shorely a season long loan would benefit both player and club with the option of securing a deal if we win promotion. If we fail to get promotion then he has the option of moving to a Burnley or Wolves, providing they both stay up.

On several other boards, there are rumours of Shorey going to Wolves in January, would seem plausible to me as well.

Let's hope it's not true.
