Baggies + Toon away or De*by

Would you rather beat West Brom and Newcastle away at expense of losing to De*by?

Completely hypothetical poll but I thought it would give an indication of whether we value promotion ahead of bitter rivalry.
At first I thought it was a no brainer. sheep every time. But then I realised the Baggies and Toon away are both 6 pointers! So in other words would it be worth sacrificing the 3 points at the sheep in order to gain 12?
Interesting to see if people value a Prideless park victory ahead of a promotion push.

I would take any two away wins instead of one against Derby. 6 points are better than 3!

Precisely that.

Obviously i'm as gutted as the next Forest fan that we lost yesterday but we have to put in perspective. Yes, it was disappointing but in the grand scheme of things, we're still 2nd in the table and still contenders for promotion. I think we'll have a better idea just how strong our challenge for promotion is when we play next Saturday. The unbeaten run is over, we can take one of two things from that. We can either let it dent our confidence and we slide down the league and end somewhere in or around the play-offs come May. Or, we respond with a performance that sends a message out to the teams around us, treat the Derby game as a bad day at the office and pick up where we left off beforehand.

I'm quietly confident we're going to respond well :)

If we do achieve promotion this season, we'll look back at the Derby game and treat it as no big deal.

That is an if though.

Was there a similar poll before we went to Pride Pork?

My 20-20 hindsight tells me it would come out differently.

Had we won, the results of this poll would be very different. Anyway, I feel much better now. Yesterday it felt like our season was over. Now I'm really looking forward to see how our lads respond.

I don't want to sound like i'm dismissing the Derby loss as something which doesn't bother me, of course it does. It would bother any Forest fan.

I suppose my point is, like I said before, if you look at the larger picture we know what it feels like to beat Derby already this season. What I don't know is how promotion would feel, I haven't experienced it since I was 8 years old. Therefore, my choice would be Baggies & Toon to beat as it will prove more significant in our hunt for promotion. Like somebody said earlier, 6 points over 3 any day :)

We just need to find out what we're actually made of now and that starts this Saturday! I'm looking forward to that rather than looking back and dwelling on an off day :)

edit: promotion to the premier league that is! :D

Don't be silly. We're 2nd in the league, not only is 6 points more than 3 as mentioned earlier, but you'll also be taking points from promotion rivals. If anyone before the Derby game said they'd swap victories over the Baggies and Newcastle I'd have slapped them.

Incidently, the only time I'd suggest a Derby win be better than 6 points would be if our season was coming to an end and we were guaranteed not to go up or down.

Even if the poll was just for 3 pts from Newcastle or Derby it's still a no-brainer. A win at Newcastle is worth far more in what is a promotion 6 pointer.

I don't believe in the timing of this poll. As someone has said, taken before Saturday and the result of this poll would 've more than likely been very different. But it's only natural and ofcourse essential to move on and stay positive. And yep your season is still very much alive and full of promise.. Cold statistics are not what football is made up ofthough. The game is built upon passion and emotion and yes, rivalry. Bottom line is whether Billy takes you up. If he does then it was indeed just the three points lost at Pride Park.
