Back to normal then.....

QPR Saturday, swathes of empty seats either side of 500 if that QPR fans, lower BC end block shut off,top of BC near Cap 1 corner near enough empty, A block lower empty, all the part timers gone away until the 21st for their second trip to the CG..........keep the faith you 17,000 of us, it will come good in the end.
Atmosphere was rocking tonight, shame it ain't like that every week, how can they say the crowd was 29,001.........who was the one I wonder?.

I'll be there on the 21st, yet I wasn't there last night.

Does that make me a part-time fan because I don't spend £100 on a round trip every week?

no it doesnt, but we are on about the people that only go to watch forest for the big games...

made a similar statement as my facebook status, funny how 12000 people suddenly appear. cracking atmosphere and i too wish that was the norm but sadly it wont be. still gutted. but will try and look at that first 20 minutes atmosphere and the play was brilliant. but to be fair apart from that we never looked on top and commons was always going to score one of his 29 shots! hope arthur now realises how thin this squad is to see ellington going on up front for them and us putting wes up surely that says it all...

Sadly there are probably 40-50,000 people in the area who are very FOND of Forest. Unfortunately, only a small proportion of them go - sure they come out of the woodwork for the 'bigger' games but have other reasons for not turning up for the run-of-the-mill games the committed supporters turn up to. We have a brilliant hard core of support - look at the averages we got in the 3rd div playing nobodies. The challenge for the club - not the supporters who DO turn up, is to market the club properly. People don't go to John Lewis's for sentmental reasons - they go because they are professional and good at what they do. Sadly, we haven't done very well at selling the club to the keen, but not committed supporter. Near 30,000 crowds would be worth 10 points a season to us, but what will entice these people to come? It is for the board to work this one out! Clearly, we need to sell a good product - not just a very promising one. We need to ensure we have a big-club mentality - not gamble on staying up. People are short of confidence - signings at the 'window' were essential but not made. The people in charge have got to realise that they have a HUGE responsibility for a vast number of Forest fans who will feel completely let down if we slip back into the 3rd tier. Be honest, from the best team in europe to the 3rd tier in such a relatively short time shows an unbelievable lack of competence by the people who run the club - we need professionals who will run this club properly. One question - how much did we make from the Sheep game? How much more money was needed to entice at least one signing to come to the club in the window?

Don't bother mate, I've had this argument before with people and a lot of them are cozy enough to say yes you are whilst they sit 10 minutes away from the CG going to games on their parents money.

I was chastised for suggesting going to the Man City game (one of the closest games for me this season and still 100 miles away (also didn't make it in the end!)) even though previously making such wonder fixtures as Preston away, Reading at home, Southampton away (that one took an epic trip), Doncaster away, Burnley at home etc.

Ive said it already today on another thread. I havnt got a season ticket (havnt had one for three years), however im 26 and have had about 7 season tickets since 1995. I have been to 3 away games this season (Man City, Charlton & Sheff Weds). I have been to five home games.

Im a self employed tiler (anyone needs a tiler pm me! ;D) & have a two year old son and one on the way next month and my misses will be on statartory maternity pay. We are going through a credit crunch and i for one am really feeling the pinch with hardly any spare cash. Let me rephrase that - im f**king skint!

I would love to come to every game home and away. If i could afford it i would definately go to every game. Therefore i have to pick the games i go to. Derby at home is a MUST.

You cant blame fans for not turning up if they cant afford it. and fans will always pick the 'big' games.

I f**king loved it last night (well the atmosphere when we were winning), it was like when we finished 3rd in the prem with stanly upfront, the athmosphere then seemed electric and last night was better than that.

Have to agree with Rrrredun. Our club is huge but it is run by ametuers. Everything about it seems second rate. They could advertise the club so much more and so much better. Offer better delas on tickets and better products in the club shop - which is way to small. Its things like the video when we beat the scum 3 zip, it had no f**king commentary on it. It just lacked quality and this just reflects badly on the club. We need to get someone in - a bit like the new chairman at Wednesday, there gates have increased significantly. Im not saying we need to get rid of Doughty, but someone better than Mark Arther to run the club day to day.

I know fans who wouldnt pay £26 to watch division 3 football and who can blame them. The whole club needs a good shacking up and BD should be given the chance to do the same on the playing side

I'll be there on Saturday, and will go to Brum - Brum will be my 20th match in a row.

I have no idea how I afford it living in Yorkshire - but somehow it's worth it.

Don't really mind the 12,000 extra to be honest it made for a great atmosphere

Ok ..We had a more than s**t season in the prem ::)..However ...I was bemoaning our 34k capacity throughout that season...with a 40k stadium we still would've filled it every home game...and against you lot...we would need more seats ...bring back terracing :) Your gate was a natural one for such a game....and it would've been more with a bigger stadium....Those 10k extra I'm sure would've been as partizan as anyone ...

Fact is - 26 quid is a lot of money to watch a game of football. Chuck in travel costs as well and it all adds up.
Families are priced out of going to watch games and the 18 - 26 demographic largely dont have much dispensible income anymore.

I can vouch for that! Cant see it getting much better im affraid with the current financial plight though. To knock fans who came out to support the team last night is madness, even if they dont come on saturday. Id love the CG to be filled every week and if i could afford it i would add 1 to the attendance every week! ;D

To be honest, I don't have a problem with anyone who only comes to the 'big' games, they're still at least to some extent Forest fans and I'd far rather that than lose them to the big 4 etc. Despite having only missed 3 games this season home & away, I don't really see myself as more of a fan than the 10,000 ST holders who don't go to away games or the thousands of floating fans that could be brought in with better success and bigger games more regularly - we're all there for Forest and united for those 2 hours. It's a pity not everyone can make it every week but everyone has their reasons or other things they need to be doing.

Am I a part timer?

3 reasons why the City Ground isn't full every week.

1, money of course, not everybody can justify the spending when you have other financial commitments.

2, family or work, you can't dedicate the time to watch football when you have other responsbilities in life.

3, the way the club treats the fans, everything from the stewards to the price of tickets (when we were watching L1 football) to the general failure and demise of the club.

you can't blame people for not wanting to turn up every other week after the last ten years we have had but, the people who don't come every week still support Forest and should be welcomed not rejected.

Double or treble that, I think we are bringing quite a few. We shall see how many are put off by the cold weather (southern fairies) but I think closer to 1000.

It was me!!!!!!
Seriously though , if prices were dropped on the gate , I am sure we would get bigger gates , more progs sold , shop sales etc .
But no , It would be too logical , not to say radical to do so .
