Back off Billy

End of day he was let down in the Play off's by the Players after giving us such a Great season and if a Club like Celtic shows an interest then sure he will not totally dismiss it, not only must he be downhearted but also one of the biggest Clubs in his home country show interest ?!

Give him a Break, if we support him maybe he might say.

A few weeks ago we were signing his praises.

How the Worzel Gummidge comes out in most on here, like with the players, Totally Fickle.

Before the play-off BD asked the fans to give their support to the club. Now the fans ask for him to show commitment to the club and what happens? Going on Scottish TV declaring how he'd consider any job in Europe isn't showing all that much commitment is it!

Saying that though I'd love to be proved wrong and see Billy take us forward next season.

Can you fault him, a chance to win some silver wear and manage a team in European competitions regular?

We are a million miles from that right now. Yes he has done wonders but we must also look at what is best for the club.

Whatever Billy feels, there is a time and a place.

If I went on local radio every week slagging off the way my employers ran their company, and then appear on national TV stating that I would consider any other job offered to me, then I would be asked to leave.

stability, and knowledge of who will be the manager would be good starting points for me - i don't mind Billy wanting to leave us for bigger things, i just wish he wouldn't play games while doing it...
if he's staying good... let the board know, let Celtic know, and get on with preparing
if he's going, it's a shame and a loss - but go quickly so we can move on before it damages the teams pre-season

When has he done this? Hes never slagged off the club at all.

Playing games maybe. He has ulterior motives yes, 1 to either get rid of the AC & 2 to say to other clubs if I don't get what I want here I may be willing to talk to you.

Don't forget he has also stated that he will only talk to other intrested parties if we let him.

Spot on. The longer this goes on, the more it's effecting Forest and our pre-season plans.

Whatever happens, I just hope it gets sorted ASAP.

Maybe thats why he is meeting ND in the next 2 weeks to sort everything out before pre-season.

Thats over 2 months old, yes we all know he was critical then of the TAC but he also knew what the setup at the club was when he arrived.

Oh, so there is now a timescale as to when you can bitch about your employers to the local radio?

Im not defending the AP, Im not saying Billy is right in his opinion either - its not about that. There is a time and a place to wash your dirty linen, and in any other profession, you would be asked to shut the door on your way out.

I hope that is a joke.

A 5 second Google search led me to:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/nottm_forest/8550484.stm

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has taken a thinly-veiled swipe at the club's transfer acquisition committee, just days after signing a player

Are you kidding?

"They're now listening to the advice of the manager [I gave] in January that we did need fresh faces,"

Thats slagging off the way his employers and the way they run the club? lol

See what you should've done is scrolled down and you'd have seen this quote from the same interview

"I don't own this football club," Davies added. "It's [chairman] Nigel Doughty's money, it's Nigel Doughty's club and however the chairman and the transfer acquisition committee decide how to move the football club forward, we will give them the greatest amount of respect.

None of its "slagging off" as you put it, hes obviously abit frustrated...but if you listen to the interview hes got a completely different tone to what they portray in text.

In any other profession you'd probably have more rights in regard to unlawful dismissal too... loyalty is a two way street, and to expect to receive it when it's not given is rather churlish.

(I realise sacked managers are generally paid off according to the terms of their contract, so it's not exactly a fair comparison, but the point kinda stands).

You're right. Myself, the BBC, the rest of the population that listened are also wrong.

Totally professional Billy. Well done.

you know something I just dont know which side to fall on.

I love what billy has done with forest but realy worry about his motives but if it is true the AP pannel have let him down then I dont blame him if he goes, i just want it sorting one way or the other as this in fighting is doing my head in and frankly its a bit embarasing.

I hope billy gets the backing hes after and we can move on, I admit I am still pissed off over the result and in usual forest fan fashion looking for someone to blame just unsure where that blame lies, doughty/MA DP and the AP or billy davies

The thing is rich, is there actually any infighting? Davies hasnt taken a swipe at the AP since march, and theres been no public bust up at least.

All thats happened now is davies giving an interview on the speculation around his job. He hasnt actually said anything that indicates there is any infighting going on- as ND said straight after the game, they have a fantastic working relationship.

Im not saying there isnt any infighting, just that theres been no evidence of it really. Other than people on messageboards starting threads either backing or attacking billy over an as yet unseen threatlol

I think we all know any talks billy has will be over the pannel and the way it was allowed to let us down in january, he hinted at as much during his interview on tuesday night after the game.

I really hope he does, even if he does go- its slow going each january is something that really needs to be sorted out.

As much as people hate billy moaning about it, he was right, they did let us and him down 2 years on the bounce in that respect.

It has to work for the club, not just for its finances, but on the field as well. Its becoming a hate object amongst the fans...and thats not something unique to billys time here.

I'd rather have the checks and balances in place than go bust, though.

I agree it needs speeding up in January in particular, but in the summer the AP has served us well - and kept us within our means.

Given free reign Billy bought Claude Davies for more than £3million.

I'm not adverse to having somebody in place to sense check his calls.
