Rumours are doing the rounds that Premier League sides Everton and Leeds are both keeping tabs on Ayase Ueda. After firing in 25+ goals and finishing as the Eredivisie's top scorer last season, it's easy to see why there's so much interest. Reports in recent weeks have linked both clubs with a move for the Feyenoord striker.

Personally, I think Forest should be all over this one.

Chris Wood has been brilliant for us, but at 34 he's not going to lead the line forever. We need to start planning for the future, and Ueda looks like he could be the ideal successor. He's quick, clinical, works hard off the ball, and has shown he knows where the goal is at both club and international level.

Everton always seem to be linked with the same players we're chasing, so why not beat them to this deal? If the opportunity is there, Forest should be pushing hard.

Bringing in one of Japan's biggest football stars wouldn't just strengthen the squad. It would be huge for the club's profile in Asia and probably shift a fair few shirts too.

For me, this is exactly the type of signing Forest should be looking at this summer.

As a complete aside, my wife's uncle is a member of Royal Portrush golf club. Lovely course. Coach load of Japanese tourists arrived last year to play it. They didn't have clubs so they all bought sets in the club shop. When the uncle finished his own round later in the day the entire load of clubs were all sitting stacked up at the side of the shop. Didn't even take them away. Bought the clubs, played the course, then just left them all lying there.

Well, I came across this article from the end of last month saying that Forest are interested in him. I'm not sure how much truth there is to it, but the Nottingham Post also picked up and reposted the story, which makes it a bit more interesting. (Football Place)

The only thing I found funny is that Dutch pundit René van der Gijp is trying to put Ueda off a move to Forest. He reckons he'd struggle in the Premier League and would only score four goals here... We'll have to see about that!
