AWAY TRAVEL

Hi all, as most of you are aware there is a lack of travel options for those of us who like a few pints and a laugh before an away match have so what we are doing is organising coach travel with this in mind.We will be based at the test match pub in west bridgeford and our aim is to travel to every away game this year starting with sheff wed. What we are aiming for is maybe an hour earlier start than the travel club with no service station stop straight to a pre organised pub for a few pints and a bite to eat,we are hoping for at least a couple of hours in the pub.We are talking to a few bus companies about various things including pick up points across the city but for some reason it bumps the price of the coach up.We have got good feedback at the testmatch and at the games so far this season, there will be some flyers around at the watford game and at various outlets around the ground, the price for the sheff wed game is a tenner the same as forest travel. It is a first come first serve basis and travel must be paid before the day of the game.as with any new venture there will be teething problems so please bear with us.This is in no way a battle bus we aim to attract like minded lads and lasses who like a laugh at the match
Any questions contact mez who is landlord of the test match on 01159811481 or michael on 07500191904

All the pubs we stop at will be at least ten miles from the ground,to comply with police regs, then arrive at ground at 2 2.30

Hi all, just a bit of an update as to what is happening for the sheff wed game.We have spoken to two coach firms about pick up points across the city and stopping at a pub location and they have no problems with the idea,we also have a pub lined up 15 miles from sheffield which serves good food.We have spoken to the police and forest and due to mez being all round top man in west bridgford they are both happy as long as they are informed of our travel plans. There is one slight drawback in that the police will want us to be at the venue an hour before kick off at the latest, but i suppose we could just leave nottingham another half hour earlier. As for pick up points this is where we would like some ideas , if say for the northern games we started at the test match across town up mansfield rd to arnold across towards bullwell onto the m1 at J26 and vice versa for the south games we realise that people would be on the coach longer but we think its worth it and a good selling point.
The cost is a tenner, but we would like to remind you all that as much as we would like to we cannot have alcohol on the coach .Final details will be posted on the weekend we play the sheep.
We are also running a coach to ipswich at a cost of 15 quid ,we will be leaving arone 11am and the same reguarding the pick ups and a pub will apply, feel free to phone us on 07500191904{michael} or mez on 07751915259 or email on lol3366@googlemail.com

Im really liking this idea, and have also put it to a few mates here in Arnold, and they like it too, would be ideal ifthere is a pickup and dropoff point in Arnold, especially for the Sheff Weds game. I will be ringing before the weekend, or maybe even pop in the test match for a pint and enquire and pay for the travel. :)

How do you want paying?? On the day.

We would want paying before the day ,ideally at the test match or on a matchday at the ground we both are really flexible when it comes to collecting money.

Hi lads and lasses ,i thought i would let you all know what the final plans are for the sheff wed game we have a coach leaving the test match at 10.30am the pub is open beforehand if any one fancys an early start, the coach will then cross our wonderfull city and head up mansfield rd through sherwood to arnold where a pick up point will be the old spot pub at 10 50am, the route will be then up queens bower rd to the junction of hucknall rd then to moor bridge up the hucknall bypass to the m1,pick up drop off points can be arranged when buying tickets.

Arrival at the pub for beer and food will be 11.45 -12PM
Because this is our first trip and we need and want to do things correctly we have to be back on the road at 1.45pm,to meet the police ,we have also been told that the south yorks police are the keenest at keeping it to the rule book,so if we get this one out the way the rest will be easy
We have had a good bit of intrest so early booking would be advisable

We are also looking for numbers for ipswich and plymouth,we have already taken 10 bookings for these two trips so if we get a few more we will run a smaller coach if necessary plymouth is 19 quid and ipswich is 15 quid
So people what you waiting for

We on the heanor bus missed our escort with the SYP to sheff wed last year at the night game... as rather funny for a few reasons especially driving past the derby home supports bus in heanor market square 3 times.... yes 3 times.

The syp weren't too fussed we had missed it that night as a police bike found us and escorted us down that big hill at about 10 mins before kick off lol.
However when we went barnsley a few popped into the pub before hand which was several miles away in a villiage which looked like emmerdale.

Always a quality pub stop when we go on the heanor bus. Never any shit pubs.

being a local to Bridgford I would be interested if you didn't stop at bars 10 miles from the ground then leave early to get a police escort.

Whenever I've been on a supporters bus before we've been dropped of in the local town centre to meet up with other trickeys then take a wander to the ground under own own steam. If you could do the same thing with your coach I'd be there almost every game.

South Yorks police, Forest in town, can't think why they'd be so keen to do things by the book! :D

I think its just a case of getting it started. As Bestwood Red says, it will have teething problems. Its just a case of are you prepared to give them a try.
I have spoken to Alan at pub, and he has said that they just want a set of decent lads who want a decent pint a bite to eat and a bit of banter. Ill be up for Peterboro and maybe Sheff Wed. I go on the official bus, its OK but location is better for me.
Also Sheff Weds and Ipswich are not great drinking grounds are they??.
Hope it goes well, ill hopefully see ya all soon.
