Well, its been another one of those will we, wont we, January transfer windows that had us all wonderin will we or wont we. In what seems to be an annual event we didn't get anyone in but sre we that bothered?

Personally i'm not. I look at the likes of garner, goldy, googy and smith, dele, chambers, tyson etc on the bench and think yeah, we're getting there... I feel gutted some weeks they don't get their chance, so todays buys would only add to that list.

Work in progress. That's what we are. And we can't argue that under billy that is not the case. I'd be more than happy to walk before we can run. The last few weeks we might have punched above our weight for a while, but who's to say it wont continue. I think we can gel even further... bring the best out of the rest of the squad.

Moses didn't part the red or the black seas as it happened, he went to the dead sea.

If we'd have sold Ando, Earnie, Camp and Gunter I would have still woke up a Forest fan.... And I'm proud of that.

Fair comments, which I do agree with for what it is worth

None of our Transfer Panel are even football men apart from Pleat, let BD have the bloody budget and make him stick to it that's what I say. We lose out every January, BD is very astute and knows what he wants and would certainly haggle just as well to get the best price, but what he would not do us leave us at the end of January with nothing. We are in a position to strengthen but we failed to capitalize on this, I have no problem with a panel that actually works but judging by the last 2 January windows it doesn't in my opinion.

This is what holds us back please give the power of the budget to a guy who obviously knows what he's doing and more importantly knows football and simply say you have 3 million for January, then he spends it as he wishes, instead of us feeling disappointed and feeling crap every January, we may live to regret this one however, but I hope not.

One other - rather important - thing is that we haven't *lost* any of our players.

A team doesn't get to 2nd in the Championship after 28 games without *some* attention to their team, witness the "rumours" (which may have been just that, of course) of Bolton's interest in Chris Cohen, and Newcastle's definite interest in James Perch.

Are we weaker than yesterday? No.

Is this team weaker than the one that hammered QPR 5-0? No.

Let's wait a week or so and see what Billy does in the loan window; remember last year, he pulled in a couple of corking loan signings that kept us up - who's to say he won't do something similar this year?

We got some incredible loan signings under BD last year at the lower end of the table, now were at the opposite end so let's see what magic BD can (hopefully) work this time round in a much more attractive position.

So it was the transfer panel that made Moses choose Premier League football over playing in the Championship. God they are clever.

So it was the transfer panel that made Shorey choose Premier League football over playing in the Championship, They really are clever.

I must say there are a lot of emotional people on here who have as yet not managed to engage their brains.

BD and the transfer panel had CLEAR TARGETS, which would STRENGTHEN the squad. They had targets for the transfer window and the LOAN WINDOW.

They did not want to simply BUY SHITE players just to say they have brought someone.

They wanted to BUY QUALITY but the QUALITY chose the Premier League over the Champtionship.

So now we wait for the loan window to open and see what can be done.

1/ We have not got the players we wanted on permanent deals as they chose Premier League football.
2/ We have not lost any players.
3/ We have 100% of the players who did 12 games unbeaten before Shorey joined.

All this shit about the TP and other crap, no wonder they say Forest have the most Fickle Fans.

No wonder my post count..
We did just fine before shorey. We'll do just fine without him.

We also still have Majewski.

All I wanted was a left back, a natural left back. We desperately need one.

I don't want a right footed utility player, a left footed box to box midfielder, or a centre back playing there, it upsets the whole balance of the team.

This is the best chance at getting back in the big time we have had for a very long time, we cannot afford to blow it by making do.

We need to loan a left back and muddle through until then.

This, although there is still the chance to loan a good quality left back

Agree 100%. The transfer panel has become a bit of a battering ram used by BD and supporters to winge or score political points. A similar system exists at alot of other English clubs (and nearly always in Europe) but they don't make a big song and dance about it.

I heard David Gill talking on the radion the other day about a similar process and Man U. Fergie reccomends players and discuss's it with the Glazers and says yeah or nay. In my eyes this is in effect a 'panel'. Same happens at Chelsea where Ancelotti says ' I want a centre half' and Arnseson and Abromivich discuss it.

In effect we are talking about ND's private cash not the clubs. I certainly don't begrudge the bloke running it by someone else he trusts in David Pleat, even just to to establish a sensible figure they feel a player is worth .....I know I would.

Billy Davies will be looking at the short term interests of himself and in turn the short term interests of the club, the panel look beyond this season and look pay a fair price for players who will hold their value. Surely thats in the long term interest of the club and will prevent another Platt fiasco which left us struggling for 10 years? Also worth remembering that Billy spent 3m on Claude Davis who later had his contract terminated - hardly the work of an expert haggler in football transfers!

We've stuggled for years but now have a young squad who are performing and have the potential to improve further. Billy Davies obviously must take most of the credit for this but the transfer panel must also be given some credit for making sure our transfer funds are spent well.
