Arrogant Geordies

To be fair, there were quite a few in the Globe on Saturday and none of them were arrogant in the slightest.

My uncle and my mate were in there, along with that group of Geordies who turned up, and I thought they were all quite good to chat to. A bit of banter, but none of them were giving it the big stuff, expecting an easy game.

I think it's mainly the amateur site writers who have the chip on their shoulders.

For me the weekend wasn't a cup final, or 15 minutes of fame - it was a good win, and performance. One I wasn't expecting.

But I was happier when we beat Derby. And I will be just as happy as Saturday if we beat Barnsley.

Nah, the smile was slightly bigger on Saturday because they are effectively a Premier league team, Barnsley are League 1.

We're playing Palace on Saturday.

I talked to a few Geordie lads too, they were gutted, but they all said we played well. None of them were funny when I pointed out that most Forest fans think we should be in the Prem too!

According to today's papers Kevin Nolan said before the match that we are a small club and that, if we beat them, we would celebrate as if we had won another European Cup.

So it's not just the amateur writers that are arseholes - their captain is too!

At least we know how to celebrate like we've won another European Cup. The feeling of winning anything is quite alien to them.

Our Dexter came out with quite a sweet reply to this.
It went along the lines of 'Forest are a big club who have won the European Cup twice and we all know how many times Newcastle have won it'

Somebody posted it up on here, but I can't remember which thread it's in

i was driving home with a 38 year old female mag and a 70 year old bloke mag and both of them thought it should have been a draw and that forest aren't a good side.

i pointed out that we completely dicked on them for the entire 1st half but they wouldn't have it. Their delusions of grandeur afflict all ages and genders it would seem.

Any chance we can put the pathetic Geordie bashing to bed until the away fixture? It's been frankly embarassing at times in the last week.

It also highlights the quandary that Newcastle fans have: opposition fans falling over themselves to tell them that they're not a big club, but all the talk before and after the game has been about them.

We won 1-0, let's enjoy it. Quite why we need 6 different threads about their fans, I'll never know.

They're having a go (fans and players) because they feel threatened...take it as a compliment.

We were better than them, as they suspected we might be before the game and they don't like it.

And they will maybe have to get used to it (again)...

If they perform like that most weeks they are not getting promoted.

I am quite surprised they are where they are now. I thought that considering the clubs position and whats going on off the pitch they would be looking mid table this season. Shows Hughton has done an incredible job really.

But they've hit rubbish form recently and they didn't look like they were gonna turn it around last night regardless of how much dominance they had.

Do what the fans say bring Shearer back! He got a good premiership side relegated he get a top championship side no promotion :)

They are almost worse than the scousers. At least the scousers can justify their false hopes on fairly recent success. I don't understand why Geordies think they are so special and different. The delusion could be the fact they're an isolated 1 club town. It makes their egos bigger than most fans....A nice dose of reality should keep them grounded for a couple of days ::)

Geez... and people wondered why we got so much grief, when we were in League One playing teams in rickety stadiums 'Only here for the Forest' - or taunting their away supporters when they were at the City Ground that it was their 'Cup Final.'

But obviously, we're immune from claims from them that we're arrogant and in need of taking down a peg or two?

Good point, well made. We should rise above all that.

Did our players ever state that any team beating us in league 1 would be like them "winning the European cup"?

That's the arrogance - more from their players than their fans.
