Argentine Primera Division information

I’m in Argentina in October and I have tickets for River Plate v Velez Sarsfield, and have a few questions for anyone who has experience of the games:

1. I’d imagine this will be a featured game, as Velez are currently top of the league. Does anyone know what date / time this is likely to be moved to? As in, do the better fixtures usually feature in a certain time slot.
2. Boca are playing (at home) in the cup when I’m there. Are Boca cup games easy to get tickets for?
3. A decent bar / pub to watch the Forest v Palace game.
4. What’s the likelihood that they’ll show an EPL game at the same time as a low level Argentinian game (if there is one one at the same time)?

Also, any tips on Bluenote (not the record label) would be great!

Can't help with any of the questions specifically but if you do get tickets for Boca then I've heard their fans really enjoy seeing River Plate shirts in the crowd should you have already bought one from the Velez game.

Yes, wear a River Plate shirt to a Boca game, and you might find yourself floating in the actual River Plate, with your throat cut.

One for my bucket list is getting to La Bombonera thought for a Boca River game.

How was the game and the match experience RDIAD?

The atmosphere was insane. Never been a fan of drums at a game…but that was tribal. Unlike anything I’ve ever experienced at any football match. Obviously Forest is different as it’s my team, but you can’t help to get carried away in that. Flares going off pre-game and in the background of the stadium it was a full moon with planes coming in to land. It didn’t look like 85k, but there wasn’t a spare seat and the fans chanted continuously.

The toilets…were spotless. Like an airport lounge 🤣

Definitely doing Boca next time…this city is superb. The culture, food and wine rival anywhere in Europe. Super clean city and in the nicer areas you have a copper on every other corner.

Ate at Don Julio and La Cabrera. The latter was £80 for 2 for; 4 large wines, entranas that could feed a family, a sausage that Yates would be jealous of, a Burata the size of Earnshaw’s head and about 15 complimentary sides of different sauces. We even got a tour of the kitchen after…I declined dessert as I had meat sweats…then went home and slept for 4 hours.

At the other end of the spectrum for food. A potato omelette, bread, salsas, 2 very large steaks with fries and a litre bottle of Brahma…was 30k pesos. £20.

My Spanish is ok, there are a few English speakers…it ranges from zero (90%) to fluent. I’d say people are friendlier now as it’s off season and not many tourists. 25 degrees most days. It would be mental in summer. If anyone is thinking of coming I’d say October is a great time of year.

Compared to Santiago…when you see a copper there are 20-30 gathered together. Then nothing. You wouldn’t want to be in the wrong area after 8pm. You wouldn’t want to be in some areas at 1pm! The street art is amazing…murals everywhere. The food was good, if not great.

Worth a visit to see the coast, Inca Lagoon and a wine tour…but will do Atacama and Patagonia next time, then BA again plus Mendoza and the falls.

After being in Australia for so long, you spend most of the time visiting Asia. It was great to get out of the comfort zone and explore.

I’d recommend the trip to anyone.

A lot more than you asked for Maxi! But I feel this place deserves many more words than this.

One of the highlights of this trip was the best piss of my life.

We were on the way to the Inca Lagoon but got stuck behind this truck. What should have taken 30 minutes to the next stop…which would have been fine…was now taking 45 minutes and so….after 10 minutes of saying to my missus that I was about to piss myself. I asked the tour van driver to stop…eventually he realised I wasn’t kidding and pulled over.

I ran to the side of this car and had one of the longest pisses of my life. Looking up at the Andes….river flowing in force over rocks to the side of me it was one of the most beautiful sights I’d ever seen. The relief and the view was truly magical.

Unfortunately the group wasn’t the friendliest I encountered. An old Cuban couple from Miami thought it was hilarious, as did the Filipino nurse living in California.

The six Mexicans, who looked like blinged up cartel members never smiled the whole trip. The old Indian guy on business carried on talking about his business…and the posh scouse twat said he supported Liverpool…but didn’t like talking about football.

The following wine tour was the polar opposite, everyone was great, I didn’t piss myself and the funniest part was the couple…she supported Huddersfield and he supported Blackpool…you’d be right in thinking their worst and best games in football involved Forest 🤣
