Are We NOW Really Serious About.....................

PSR

Geoff Thomas
PROMOTION?

Are we now going all out for promotion?
Has Billy's voice finally been heard?
Has ND realised it is "Do or Die" time?

As much as I like to be positive - I do have to ask the question...................

Are we really offering £2m for this particular player or is it just another of those games being played by Marthur & Co. to wet our appetites - to get us all going (again) and making us think that the tide has now turned.

I want to stay positive and hope to see a handful of "Stella" signings come in January but there has been many hidden agendas in the past that makes you wonder if we're being led up the garden path once more.

How many times and how many players have we been associated with and led to believe over this last 2/3 years that we are the front runners for their signature - only to fail at the last hurdle.

I realise a lot of players assosiated with us could well have been paper & forum talk but unless Forest come out and confirm or deny these reports - we will never know.

The question is:- Is it True or is it Bluff?

I for one, want to believe and hope that things are changing down at the CG but what I don't want is for us to get to the end of January without any signings and for a statement to come out of the City Ground midway through February telling us how they really tried to get this player or that player and how we ended up with Feck All.

In Billy I Believe - In Forest................let's wait and see!!!

That's pretty much what went through my head n' all when I read we'd offered £2m for a player. We've been burned too many times to get all carried away.

my view is we will consolidate this season and if we gain a play off spot via loan signings and current squad it will be a bonus, I think we will look to the summer to make perm signings and have a proper all out push for promotion.

To be honest with you I'm a bit fed up of the word 'consolidate'

We passed over last January's transfer window - We didn't speculate during last summer - And so by that I take it we can consolidate once again by kissing goodbye to any signings this January in order to take stock and see what this next summer brings.

What a waste of 18 months - just to consolidate until season 2011/12 - I wish someone had told me beforehand, I might just have saved myself 2 years of season ticket money.

If nothing happens this January I might consider consolidating my money in my pocket next season until the clubs consolidating period is up.

Then again, supposing they don't splash the cash, we'd all better learn to just enjoy watchin' Forest play in the Championship ...

its all well offering £2m for a player but if you know the selling club want £3m for him its just an gimmick really to appease the fans!

I think there must be a law now that fans aren't allowed to enjoy watching their team unless they are in the Premiership. For three years in League One everyone dreamed of being in the Championship and after one season of struggling but enjoying being in this league, now everyone just seems miserable to be here.

I for one am enjoying being established as one of the better teams in this league. If we get promoted then great. If we don't then I'm glad that we are challenging at the top end rather than looking at those below us.

Love the post...............

Which set of fans are enjoying this season more.................West Ham or Forest

Enjoying it or not I know where I'd sooner be supporting the Reds and as for the players I can safely say - I know where they would sooner be plying their trade.

Exactly how I feel.

The team is as good as it has been for over a decade and we play some lovely stuff when we get going. The squad is young and includes a lot of local lads, with few that seem to be bad eggs or would bring the clubs name into disrepute. The chairman is a fan of the club and the manager is quite entertaining to listen to.

I'd like us to win more games and go up, but even if we don't, I still look forward to going to see us play immensely and three weeks without a Forest game is far too long.

after spending 2 weekends watching everton in the premiership and seeing how soul less goodison has become over the years I will be glad to be back in the city ground playing games in the championship, we see exciting football and enjoy a great atmosphere what awaits us in the premiership? we will never win it, dont stand a hope in hell of getting into the champions league in the next ten years, so would you really want to become another mid table premiership side that never get to Europe, put league safety ahead of cup success so bow out of the league and fa cup in the early stages?

to be honest like has been said im happy where we are now ive seen the grass and it aint greener on the other side would much prefer we establish ourselves in this league and take steady steps forward over the next few years and maybe win promotion once the prem has been brought back into check with the real world.

You obviously didn't go to Leicester!!! :bored:

The one thing I dread about being promoted is all the kick-off times changing. It should be 3pm on Saturday FFS

Maybe if we got serious about relegation, we'd get promoted?

That seems to be how the logic of this works round these parts.

You missed an option. Namely that mark Arthur is simply continung his policy of spending an appropriate amount that we can afford. £2million pund bids/signing are not as rare under his regime as certain fans would like to make out.

I'm assuming you mean 'Stellar' as in:-
Adjective
stellar (comparative more stellar, superlative most stellar)
  1. (astronomy) (no comparative or superlative) Of, pertaining to, or characteristic of stars.
  2. heavenly
  3. exceptional; wonderful
Rather than the common abbreivation for Stella Artois - a lager originating from Leuven, Belgium, predominantly brewed in the United Kingdom. Deriving it's name from 'Stella', the Latin word for "star".

I presume the 'leaks' to the local press about our transfer targets came from Forest. Why do this unless it is to show the fans 'we've tried'. At one time we would hear announcements about who we've SIGNED, not who we're sniffing round. I remember hearing about both Kenny Burns and Trevor Francis in this way. I really can't remember any local press speculation prior to the transfers. There are ways to keep the would-be selling club quiet about it.

Nah. I'm an intensely private person. I don't do TV appearances.

I think we've had a too bad of a start to the season to really be in contention for the top 2. however, if we win our games in hand I'm sure we could get up to 4th-5th and finish in a play-off spot. But everyone knows we'll f*** that up.

I'm not sure; Cardiff are wobbling, Derby are wobbling and no other team, bar QPR, have shown any sign of doing much this season.

The Championship is there for the taking this year, and there's plenty of games left for a team to put a run together, similar to that which we had during parts of last season, that could end up with us in the top 2.

Remember 07/08?

We were nowhere with eight or nine games to go, then there was that magnificent final run-in under Colin Calderwood, and the never-to-be-forgotten drama of that wonderful May afternoon at home to Yeovil - Colin Frey practically exploding when he announced "...and Cheltenham have SCORED!"

There's plenty of time yet, and if we can add to the squad we have, there's no reason why we can't make progress in the league.

That's a *big* "IF", though...
