Are our fans really that bad?

Working in Leicester of course I've had to listen to the smelly, bin-raiding, vulpine creaures prattle on about the upcoming fixture against the woolly set on Saturday, but I must say that I was surprised that it's a 3.00 p.m. kick off.

When we play either of these teams at home the fixtures are switched to 1.00 p.m. kick off and the Pride Park match has already been changed to 1.00p.m.

Could it be that the police in Leicester are too dim to realise that there might be trouble?

A more likely answer is that the Bin Robbers and the Sheep are so pre-occupied with getting one over on a far more succesful club that plays in red, that they actually forget that they are rivals.

It's because Lesta's traditional local rivals are Coventry City and Nuneaton Borough. The game against Coventry is nicknamed the 'Who Cares' Derby, and the game against Nuneaton, although not now played for many years, is called the 'Sweatshop Jumper makers' Derby.

To a lot of Leicester fans the game against us is the big one and they get quite offended when you try and downplay its importance to us. Had a row with one of their fans on another site while discussing their game with Coventry, he basically said Leicester's big one was against us and when I dared to to suggest that for many Forest fans Leicester wasn't a big deal he threw a right mardy telling the rest of the board I was lying ;D

I think it's down to a number of factors really:

a) Most local clubs see us as the 'big' game. Derby is the obvious one....and although some Leicetser fans try to play down the fact their derby is with Coventry, alot of their fans and some Leicester lads i know, definatly have a dislike of Forest and see us as the big game!

I remember a night out in Loughborough a few years back when a few of us walked into a night club, wild i think it was called? When a few younger BS noticed my mates 'NFFC' tattoo down his forearm. They we're onto us like a rash and the f**kers wanted it straight away!! Numbers well in their favour and i think it's fair to say if it wasn't for a few bouncers getting inbetween the two groups we'd have probably took a fair few slaps! Funnily enough when we came out, we saw a few of these Leicester chaps in a kebab house as the majority had p**sed off. Think it's fair to say they didn't fancy it now ;D.....but got talking to them and in all fairness they we're sound lads. They explained although there had been trouble with Coventry over the past few seasons, Forest was always the one they would turn out the most numbers for! Funnilty enough, saw the same lads abroad the following year while on the p**s in Malia. Had a few good nights when them and still keep in touch every now and then.

b) The sheer numbers we actually take away. Granted our home attendences aren't always great but away from home, we're fantastic! Because of the numbers we take, the potential for trouble is always greater hence why games either have plenty of police around or kick off times are brought forward.

c) Reputation from the 'rougher' days i.e. 70's, 80's. Suppose this links with the 'hooligan' thread created a few weeks back, but imo Forest did have a big reputation in the 'off the field activities' steaks. Although it's nothing like it once was.....the reputations are still thought of (especially by the police) and thats why Forest away games, in genreal, and policed quite heavily.

That said, i'm very supprised Leicester vs Derby is a 3:00pm kick off afterall it is still a local derby with both sets of fans having encounters in the past. One thing's for sure, our visit to the Walkers won't be a 3pm....of that im certian!

I reckon it's fair to say that many Forest fans take the rivalry with Les-dar quite seriously. Even for them though it's a distant second to Derby.

The 'We hate Derby County' verse (which I hate) of 'Forest ever Forest' used to just say "We hate Derby County, We hate Derby too, we hate Derby County oh Derby we hate you" (or something like that) whereas now Les-dar and Sheffield United of all teams have snuck in there in more recent iterations, so it must be a factor.

My main dislike of them comes from their administration-manipulating ways which escaped punishment, not really out of any genuine sense of legitimate local rivalry.

Plus, to return to the original point of the thread - I was always of the understanding that Derby and Les-dar fans got on with one another ;)

Leicester see us like we see Derby and Derby see us. I think Coventry hate Leicester more than Leicester hate them, a bit like we aren't as bothered about Leicester as we are Derby.

I work with a part time Leicester fan (been following them since he heard they'd been promoted on the news last season) so I deffinitely want to see us batter them! I'd take a win over them more than a win over Derby at prideless park , I want it that bad - just to wipe the sh!t eating grin off of his face!!!!

They sold out on Tuesday? Unless you're getting confused about the hospitality tickets?

Leicester match isnt really a 'derby' game, its just another match that happens to be quite close

Just listening to Serge from Kasabian on Football Focus.

He says Leicester should pick Coventry as their local derby as 'Forest and Derby already have their think.'

Good man.

The Leicester - Nottingham Forest rivalry appears to be a one-way phenomenon. Not really knowing much about the history between the two clubs, its hard to say.

Another example of a one-way rivalry is that which is developing between Watford and Reading - with Watford fans regarding Reading as a derby but the Reading fans themselves not being too bothered. The history between Watford and Reading is very insignificant compared with the history between Watford and Luton. In order for a rivalry to be fierce, there needs to be a two-way history between the two clubs. For the Luton and Watford rivalry, it goes back as far as the 1800s but it was a match in 1969 which started the ball rolling.

Between Reading and Watford, the only episodes are all in favour of Reading - Reading taking Brendan Rodgers, and Reading also scoring a phantom goal at Vicarage Road http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0YiuSbBdaQ

However, there's nothing Watford have done to anger Reading fans.

If Brendan Rodgers leaves Reading and/or Luton Town return to the league then this short lived rivalry will probably fade.
