In all the unwanted, unneeded commotion and fallout with regards to the Mark Arthur Interview, one name seems to have been forgotten. Jermaine Johnson was also mentioned.
Now I know he was having an exploitery knee operation (and we have not heard the outcome on this yet) any one got an update on this?
Now if he is ok, and say for instance they improve the offer for Jermaine Johnson...then to me that is not a STELLAR signing....somewhat of anti climax if we really are aiming high!!
Firstly, I don’t think he had a bad season last year, don’t think he is a bad player... we know from reading Sheff Wed comments that he is hit and miss (in the Tyson-ish mould), and not really a star player for a team relegated that was relegated to League One.
Secondly his age, IS he really a signing that we believe can make the step up to the Premier League, I doubt he would have much of a sell on value and is he really better than Anderson?
Finally out of all positions we need to fill right wing does not strike me as one that needs to be urgently filled. We have Cohen (a left sided centre midfielder already keeping Anderson and McCleary out the team on the right. If we do get Pratley, I am sure he could play that role also.
Yes he can play on left but this current trend of playing players on the opposite wings (i.e. right footed on the left and vice versa) in the main hasn’t really worked for us. Yes and international stage the likes of Robben and Ronaldo have showed how it should be done, but for us the likes of Cohen, Anderson, McCleary, Tyson have struggled when asked to do it...I am not sure Jermaine Johnson would be the answer!
So not a stellar signing, but maybe a useful squad player ...Although perhaps they should save the money we were offering Sheff Wed for him and add it to the transfer fees we are offering Cardiff and Swansea??!
