Got his first assist yesterday.
An expensive assist so far.

The thread on their forum is very damning..Trending number 4 on Twatter, suffice to say the Geordies aren't liking Tony!
Fair enough £35m to get him back and they can have Gunn for £20m in exchange. The thread on their forum is very damning..
I was out scouting yesterday and another chap I know was there who scouts for Middlesbrough. He's a Barcodes fan and he was saying exactly the same. I said that I couldn't understand them signing him when he's a transitional player and not the greatest technically. I said Hutchinson would have been a much better fit for them."I find it more annoying that we spent a year chasing him when his limitations should have been obvious to anyone who watched him regularly. Not really sure what Howe was seeing tbh."
That's a post from a Newcastle forum which is spot on... You could have asked any forest fan that he is brilliant on the counter but was pretty much ineffective when he didn't have space to run into.
He's been increasingly horrendous for us with each passing appearance. Genuinely looks like he's never seen a football before. Between him and Gordon it's an absolute horror show watching them take a first touch, it's consistently more of a danger to us than the opposition.
I know he's better than this as I've watched him do it for Forest, but I've never seen a player struggle so much with a move in my 40 years of watching us. The only other ones that spring to mind were players signed from the continent.

Well we got £55m and the opposition can no longer nullify half our attacking force quite so easily. One of my good mates is a big Newcastle fan and he’s been saying exactly the same.
Last few games of last season, when our struggles started, the opposition finding out AE was a big reason. After his brilliant goal v Man United teams just sat back and let us have the ball. Elanga in particular was immediately less effective.
I’m not sure his move has benefitted anyone - us, you or him.
Emmo?Inflation aside did anyone think he’d go up to a £80m + footballer?

They didn’t rate Anderson either and decided to keep Miley and Barnes insteadYup, every one of us could see it. Amazing that the decision makers at Newcastle didn’t.
On a footballing level perhaps but I imagine his bank balance has significantly improved. My Newcastle supporting colleague thinks Elanga is a dud and has given up on him.
I wonder if Elanga regrets the move. I think it’s another case of you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.

Elanga is suited to a fast counter attacking side like we were last year, Newcastle are a pressing/keep ball and probing team which makes him much less effective. He's not your tricky winger who will go past a defender by skill, more a lump it forward for him to run on to.
