The first three games will give people a false sense of how important Elanga, and his pace, will be this season.

In our first three games we arguably competed as equals, where we aimed to have more of the ball and play less on the counter attack.

The truth is that against at least 50% of teams, we will be playing more on the counter, and our speed in the break will be a huge game plan.

No point in Jota being on the wing in these games as we just won’t have the possession.

I think it was the right decision... for now at least.

Nobody knows how much of the £50m was cash and how much was Almiron's notional value. Given how player values have rocketed, I reckon we would have gotten less cash than we would want. Factor in Almiron possibly not preferring the move, his recent drop in form (rarely starts now) and the loss of our one truly pacey player and I think it would have been a poor move for Forest.

At 22 years old, Elanga will hold value for some time yet. I agree that the 'offer' was sizeable, but if we didn't want (or need) a player of Almiron's profile then it immediately becomes a poor offer.

Exactly, and there will be more space in behind the opposition defence for his strengths to become more obvious. Much more to come from Elanga, I'm personally delighted we kept him.

Elangas been brilliant for us. Don't think we should be selling him at all unless a ridiculous offer comes in for him.

He's still young and his pace scares defenders.. I only wish he'd try and take his man on more and get crosses in rather than check inside

I’d take 50m for him but not 20m and Almiron or whatever shit offer those nobheads undoubtedly made.

They didn’t sign anyone in the end so tell them it’s 60m in January and he’s theirs.

I’d only take a silly offer in Jan if it’s the beginning of the month and Jota/Sosa are deemed good enough.

If both aren’t satisfied then I’d tell Newcastle to kick rocks.

Rocks like the rocks their owners throw at women or gays or both.

I think some people are basing their opinion of Almiron based on one good half a season he had (he was brilliant).

15M profit, with some due to united isn't enough to lose Anthony. Good decision by the club.

He got hooked at half time today, seems he's not on form for his country either right now.
Hope his form returns soon.

Nuno needs to have a word with him. Keep it simple, with Forest he's been overcomplicating things. Back to basics, he's not going to score a Worldy every week.

I think we'll see Tony dropping to the bench with Jota Silva taking his spot, he just isn't consistent enough to warrant being in the starting XI week in week out, but what he has got is the attributes to be a devastating difference maker from the bench.
Of course that is depending on Jota Silvas ability to make the step up, but as much as i like Tony i just can't ever say he'll be the first name on the team sheet.

Elanga has been devastating at times scoring or assisting but generally on counter attack. Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle away, Homes games against Newcastle etc. Games where it suits him to soak up pressure and then he run into space and use his pace. I think Elanga and forest as a team are trying to transition into having more of the ball, which is the next step of progression but then brings other challenges. This will next time.

I’m not particularly worried about it as Elanga was not too expensive an acquisition. I do have my doubts that he will be able to reach the levels of CHO, Anderson and MGW though.
CHO & elanga had very good season last season - both had ups and dpwns.
I have yet to see the same highs achieved by either of them so far this season, albeit only 3 games in.

Seeing that the horse bashers appear besotted with him, that raises the price exponentially. Plus we have to take into account the absolute f***ing scam of Shelvey. When we scanned his barcode it didn’t say non returnable did it?

80 million plus they can have shelving back

We already got the pillaging from them with Anderson on the cheap and making them pay money for the garlic-hater though

He’ll come good again pretty soon I’m sure, he’s still only a young lad. All the talk of a big money transfer no doubt unsettled him as I’m sure was the intent.
He’s the kind of player we need to keep, his electrifying pace and attacking intent would be almost irreplaceable. He just needs to learn (be coached) to look up to see if someone is in a better position to score. If he can do that, then well, the sky’s the limit for the lad.

CHO has been doubled up on so far and so has not been able to impact directly, but he doesn’t lose it very often and so others have found space as a result. Technically and mentally I think he is a couple of levels above Elanga who seems to run into blind alleys and lose it. I like Elanga and agree with others who have said his game is better when we are on the break - not sure this is how this fits in to our aspirations to control games more though..

The doubling-up on CHO is something we have to take more advantage of.
