Another New Ground thread.

Another model, submitted to FIFA as part of England's bid today.

Probably controversial here, but I'd be happy with that. It looks different and we could do a hell of a lot worse.

I'd like to add parking in the winter may get muddy.

Can't stand bowl arenas. That's what they are. Arenas. Not grounds. I want to play in a ground.

Is the proposed site submitted still Gamston?

I'm guessing that the 'bid team' are trying to give the FIFA judges the wow factor and feel bowl stadiums with asthetics that will never come to fruition will achieve that.

I'd imagine so, with all the greenery around it. I'd say its also interesting to see the capacity is 41,500.

I don't think that is too bad, gives us room to expand and get more trickys, without leaving huge spaces.

I'm not a fan, particularly if the Main Stand is going to stay as it is! Impressed with the effort you've gone to, though! Good work on the graphics at least!

The original stadium is someone elses, lol. I left the main stand and Bridgeford alone as I thought extension was a no no because of houses?

I actualy quite like the new design its different eneugh to make it out own, yes its a bowl but all grounds will be in the next 10-20 years so not a great deal we can do about it we will just have to accept it and look back at traditional grounds with the same fondness we do terraces

It almost begins to look like St James Park.

A big no no. Unbalanced and horrible.

I'm not sure that ground (first post) could be any duller.

Infact, If I was to design a stadium I didn't want, it'd look a lot like that.

If we do have to end up moving to a new ground I can think of a lot worse ground designs than that.

Hmmm, extremely dull I have to say. Better than the Pride Park/Walkers Stadium interchangable model of a few years ago, but still a bowl of no particular character to speak of (that we yet know of).

As for the newly designed CG, bloody fantastic in my opinion, great work. I'm not sure the extension to the BC stand would even be neccessary, I've always thought the upgraded CG could have a standard size the whole way round if they build a new main stand and extended the dicky shape of the Bridgford. Any chance of knocking up some plans with the new Main Stand? :p

I love it though. Not that it makes the slightest bit of difference, money talks. :(

The only problem with that corner proposal would be.

We don't own or rent that bit of land so the council would charge us a fortune extra in rent. And you have missed the external frame that holds the Trent end up! Would spoil the view from some corner seats.

Anyway if by some miracle we did stay at the CG then I'd leave those corners open so you can see the Trent and let air to the pitch.

What I would like to see is what it would look like with a new 2-tier main stand and Bridgford upper swept around to meet it in another vc corner. That would give Bridgford end an extra 3000 seats. A new 12000 main stand gives us 7000 more. And then we have a 40,000 stadium.

I think your proposal is what everyone wants really.

But the argument has been done to death and there's really no way round it. You can't turn down what's on offer, even if its not what people really want.

I can understand what people say about just another bowl type ground and im sure I will be proven wrong here, but apart from the new olympic stadium I cant think of a football venue in Britain that is circular like that, not that I want it but in my opinion its better than recent builds.

One thing I cant understand about the argument for rebilding the main stand is surely it would be cheaper to buy the houses a bigger stand gets in the way of than it would a whole new stadium, I know its not as simple as that but still I think there argument about affecting a few poxy houses stinks.

It's one of the better new build designs I've seen, but it's not awe inspiring. As for there not being others like it, originality is short lived (there was a time only one club had a walkers/pride park flat pack stadium)
