All clubs have fans who only come out for big games - that is, if they can get tickets. Apparently, Blackpool found 35,000 fans today - quite how they're going to fit in their stadium next season I don't know.

Its a fact of life.

The extra people at Forest's game took otherwise empty seats so brought in extra revenue.

You can normally tell by the age of the tops the fans wear.

there was a lad sat in front of me for the 2nd leg who left early but before leaving turn around and said

" oh come on! How can a professional player not kick a ball with his left foot? "

I dont have a season ticket but I sit and listen to the football every time theres a match on and try and get to at least 6 or 7 games a season. The people who make these comments at matches are generally the ones who dont really know anything about football, thats where the problem is.

cheers

I've read numerous threads on here about annoying season ticket holders screaming negative abuse week in week out, and driving the other season ticket holders around them nuts. Are they proper fans? I don't have a season ticket but when I do get to go, and I live 3 hours from the city ground, I wing me heart out. Am I a proper fan?

Ps my top is 2 seasons old

1) they should be able to kick with their left foot, but so long as their sufficiently proficient with their right then that will suffice. for example david beckham.

2) i usually wear a red adidas top, but usually i have a thick black coat on because it's cold in the winter. so, no forest shirt.

go on, guess my age.

I can't play football with my left foot either. Does that mean I'd make it as a professional footballer too?

So, what does wearing the current shirt tell you about the supporter?

Wouldn't you also be pissed off despite getting promotion to the Championship, then second season back mounting a serious promotion campaign, winning lots of home games and getting into the play-offs, no-one extra was inspired to come down and support the team than did so when they were languishing in League 1?

More success = more fans. Always has, always will. All things considered has more up sides than down sides.

Depends on circumstances, I had a season ticket the season after the play offs in the championship until the final season in league 1. I travelled back from Uni in Northampton every friday night before a match. I worked every summer just to buy a season ticket for the next year. I just changed my habits, started to prefer going to a few away games and a few home games rather than just buying a home season ticket. Been to Bristol City, Sheff Wednesday, Gillingham, MK Dons (that was a wierd ground) and a few others just to mix it up abit. If I had the money spare for a season ticket I would have one, no hesitation.

That always makes me laugh

real fans who claim you must have a season ticket to support the club = real tw*t

I work Saturdays (but I guess that is not an excuse eh?) so this season, as always, I've tried to book as many off as I can - so despite going to the Bradford, WBA, Watford, Blackpool, Bristol, Doncaster, Leicester, Coventry, QPR, Sheff Wed, Palace, Plymouth and the home play-off game I'm not a 'real fan'?

Actually, I have spent more money this season by not buying a Season Ticket which should, in some peoples minds, make me more of a fan. :-*

I shall be buying a Season Ticket next season to save me money. lol

I'm suprised no one has argued that a true fan would not only buy a season ticket but pay on the day as well! lol

The only annoying fans are those who argue that they are better because......

The amount you spend is irrelevant. If you can go to every home game then great - if you can go to every away game aswell then thats awesome - if you love the club but can only go to games where finances and other engagements allow, thats how it is.

I should have used the SarcMark when I posted to highlight the fact that I wasn't being wholly serious.

Although the amount I've spent is irrelevant, as you say, it was my choice to spend it and I have no complaints whatsoever. It suited my situation.

Money is, of course, important to the club otherwise all seats/all ages would be at the same set price. A seat's a seat whether it's a young or old bottom sitting on it afterall. I think the club do a reasonable job in helping to prioritise ticket allocation.

What I was trying to illustrate was that you don't have to be a ST holder to be classed as a 'real fan' but that does all depend upon how you class a 'real fan'.

As for the OP, it's fishing season again. :)
