Angelos „Ange“ Postecoglou

If true then it's all the more evidence that he was a clueless idiot that just didn't get the club

Imagine telling someone like Ryan Yates that winning the Championship playoff final and returning Forest to the Premier League after twenty three years and then qualifying for Europe for the first time in thirty years "meant nothing"

Utter clown
I haven’t read the article however IF what he said is true I’d be quite sure it was coming from a place of “forget past achievements, you can’t rest on your laurels, we need to make new history” etc etc.

He must have meant it in a 'It's time to push the club forward another step' sense, but somehow managed to mess even that up.

I know it's all over, but I'm still intrigued by all the stories that are coming out from the 39 days of Ange:
  • Telling the players to forget the previous seasons achievements - even if this was coming from a place of motivation in terms of pushing forward, I feel like it could have been done in a better way
  • Hairdryer treatment after the Swansea game - I'm not against a manager sticking it to players, although probably not a wise move to get players on side in your second game
  • Coaching was focused on physical intensity as opposed to tactics - seemed obvious that tactics went out the window in most of his games
  • Thinly-veiled dig at Ange in the Dyche statement - it might have been a coincidence that the official statement on the Ange sacking was 39 words, but the statement on the Dyche appointment referring to 'identity' and 'defensive organisation' is a massive two fingers to Ange
The fact that there are rumours that Ange is considering going back up to Scotland is laughable; he's found his level again. No doubt, there'll be a few more stories that come out over the next few weeks. What a crazy 39 days it's been!

"Ange Postecoglou was never the right man, inheriting a squad that did not suit his style and did not adapt quickly enough, though it did not help that he told the players their previous achievements meant nothing." 😯

Of course he did, because that went so well for OBE at Leeds.

Honestly, did Ange think "I'd better do some homework on BC", watch "The Damned United" and think "oh yes, that's a good approach"? Pillock.

Brendan Rodgers will get the boot from Celtic* and Postecoglou will go back there & win everything which will result in his Aussie fan club bombarding this forum with posts about how great he is and how Forest should've stuck with him, my response would be that he's an absolute twat and massively out of his depth at PL level.

Which most of us knew beforehand.

He'd fail there as well.

Bloom has sorted out Hearts and the rest of them are miles behind in that backwater league.

I’ve spent the evening here in Oz on an Aussie football page where everyone is saying Ange was hard done by. Myself and a few other dissenters are explaining, as hard as it to believe the messiah is flawed, he f**ked up royally. To stubborn, tactically naive, thought he was King Shit, and I hope he learns from these mistakes.
FWIW I do believe he’ll learn but I highly doubt he’ll get another EPL opportunity. It’s somewhere else in Europe he’ll need to rebuild his reputation.

There were some quotes from Nuno after West Ham’s defeat against Brentford-words such as ‘we were poor, must do better,
We have a problem’. Etc. I didn’t get any of that insight from Ange-he gave off a carefree attitude that somehow it will eventually just turn around, regardless of what damage he would cause. Fans need to know that the manager is addressing issues.

It's a testament to how good some of Spurs players are that they managed to stay up.

It was crazy how shapeless we looked at times under Ange, he's literally a manager who'd be at League 2 standard in the 00's.

It's just wild isn't it? In particular the emphasis on physical fitness rather than tactical preparation just seems insane given we went straight into 6 games in three weeks in three different competitions.

Good lad.

I hope for you lot he goes on to do something entertaining which you can get behind again, but there's no doubt it won't be in the Prem.

He won't last long in any top league such as Italy either until he sorts the organizational and defensive side of his game out.

Hopefully, you enjoy the Forest experience going forward, and have already seen how having a more grounded and humble approach from Dyche can make a world of difference to fans.

He could literally win the Champions League and nothing would convince me he's anything other than a shit manager at Premier League level

I honestly do believe Ange is a victim of his own success. He’s played a certain way his entire career, and it’s worked.
And then there’s the PL. Massive wake up call. Massive step up.
I do hope he learns and adjust. More so though our budding managers learn from his mistakes.
Just as we all know in our careers, we need to continually learn, evolve, apply.
There’s always someone just a tad smarter than you.

It did work. But Angeball is based almost entirely on the concept that other teams won't try to stop you playing that way.

Then he came to the Premier League, where all but one or two clubs have to firstly set out to stop you playing the way you want.

After an initial shock that anyone could be so naive as to think they could do that he's been absolutely found out and found wanting.

It's true that Ange made a lot of mistakes and probably wasn't a good fit.

It's also true that the form of Forest under Ange could easily be explained by transitioning to an entirely different way of playing midseason with very little time for training sessions between matches and international breaks. The constant criticism of him constantly making changes is a good example. I think it is very reasonable as a new manager to give your squad a run and to try different combinations at the start of your time. In fact, I think that's ultimately good for a squad that they see they have been given a chance and that they are valued. And then complaints that at times the team lacked shape and fluidity. I just think that's inevitable. There were also periods of excellent football, and that's just often how it goes in such situations.

Ange has some really impressive achievements, he's basically won at every job he's had (just ask him), and he was attempting to implement an attacking brand of football. I personally think it would have been worth the risk to see it play out a bit more.

I don't really think it's necessary to argue he was totally hopeless or ignore the obvious fact that he really was given very unfair treatment (if you are hiring him on the basis of changing your brand of football), in order to say you're happy that he's gone and Dyche is in. It's obvious neither the fan base or management were anywhere near willing to take the risk of letting Ange do the job he wanted to do and was apparently hired to do. Fair enough, but I really don't see it as much of blemish against his record. Forest wanted a much more conservative approach to their football. Dyche is the right guy then.

Not sure about wanting a conservative approach, I think it's more about wanting some points, which Postecoglou isn't capable of delivering at this level as he proved at Spurs and now Forest, terrible manager ridiculously out of his depth in the Premier league
