Andy Cole

Just read Andy Cole will not be signing for Burnley, Do you think CC will try signing him, seeing as he is another Nottingham born player?

Im unsure whether he would be a good signing myself, maybe a little old now?

He's still got some class there's no doubt about it, and I would be happy to see some experienced additions to our squad given most of them are quite young. Whether he's the right man for Forest, I'll leave up to Calderwood and Pleatt et al because they've got it right recently and theyre doing a fine job

Cole would be a waste of space, well past it. We need to be looking at younger players.

I get where you're coming from, but his record at Burnley speaks for itself, and we lack experience massively. I'd accept Lennon back instead though

Cole wouldn't come here because he knows that he would be unlikely to be first choice.

At his age, he'll want to be playing every week.

again, you say that but how do you know? Robbie Fowler, although injured for much of the season, seems fairly content with not being first choice every game at Cardiff. When you get to that age some might demand first team football or others, like Brecks for example, may be happy knowing their bodies limitations and being involved in different ways.

I don't know why I'm arguing this because I too think Cole would be an unlikely and possibly unwise signing, but we don't know do we. I certainly wouldn't want to form an opinion on him or any other player purely because of their age. I havnt seen him play in years, but I seee his goalscoring record at Burnley.

Phillips is 36 or 37 and i would bite his hand off to get him here age is irrelevent (unless you have a squad thats all ancient or all young)

True, but Windass hasn't won the European Cup or the many Premiership titles that Cole has. If Forest get Cole then he will demand to play every game because of his achievements. Realistically this is not going to happen, he will disrupt the club and end up being abit like how Alan Rogers was.

Thats a bit of a harsh assumption, unless you know the player personnely how can you say that.

He copuld come here be happy to sit on the bench, and just play a key role as a substitute

The same Neil Lennon who was singled out for praise by Colin Calderwood at the end of the season for his attitude and his influence on the younger players, especially Bennett who has flourished this season?

Hardly a fair assumption.

I think he got the wrong end of the stick. I said Alan Rogers because he caused a disrupt in harmony and tried to corrupt the club.. he replied with Lennon because he was sat on the bench quite abit and then left (probably because of this)?

Andy Cole is a good professional. He scored a lot for Burnley. Why wouldn't we play him every week. Phillips proved older players can cut it at this level and he is not got the same class Cole has.

I don't think we would be strong enough if we were to sign Andrew Cole to afford to leave him on the bench. For one he would be better than any of our current strikers imo.

If you look at Andy Coles record over the past few seasons he has been very injury prone although a great player in his day his best days are well gone dont want another striker who is constantly on the sick list. As for Lennon he is past history couldnt dislodge Gary Holt from Wycombe team enough said.
