First Team Squad
There have been loads of different rumours about lately

The following facts you can 100% rely on:

Despite his wage demands Shorey remains number one left back target and we have made an approach in the last two weeks

We have made a formal offer for Pratley in the last two weeks

We have made a formal offer for Whittingham in the last two weeks

Cardiff in return enquired about Earnshaw and may or may not be part of any Whittingham deal if it happens

The European left back has been watched twice live now (the second time by Billy himself which tells you something)

This left back may be allowed to spend a few days with Forest pre-season

As we speak for the first time that I am aware of the following have taken holidays at exactly the same time Arthur, Burt, Pelling, Davies

Davies is in Dubai on holiday and not at the World Cup as I have seen mentioned elsewhere

I consider it highly unlikely that all would have gone away at the same time if at least some of the deals above had not been agreed

So basically either the panel have got a lot of the hard work done early on and are now all very relaxed on the beach or else all the offers have been rejected, we are in the shit and none of them including Billy really care !!

Other then the name of the left back which I am holding back until Forest themselves release it I know nothing more

I know absolutely nothing about what is happening with Boyd.

Similarly nothing about Beattie, Austin or offers for Perch or Cohen (that does not mean those things have not happened)

Like I say guys all of the above are facts

Lots of people have said we have deals already tied up and are saving for general sale - the holiday situation above would certainly tend to back that up

Wish I could have told you something more sensational and concrete but anyone who has contacts at the club will tell you how closely things are guarded at the moment

I would want to keep Earnshaw. We don't have anyone to fill that kind of role except McGoaldrought or Garner (who could be on his way) Shudders.....

Cheers.

I'd rather keep Earnie and not bother with Whittingham, though.

Hopefully we've done some business then! I too would want to keep Earnie

i'd snap cardiffs hand off for a swap deal whittingham for earnie. Especially if we signed another striker to replace him. Earnshaw is definately a luxury player (hence the reason he mainly only starts at home) IMO

He's also pretty much guaranteed 15+ goals a season. But yeah, let's let him go.

be sad to see Earnie go BUT if new players came in and started banging in the goals as is football i would get over it quickly

i wouldn't ! i'd like to see us get whittingham but not if it meant losing our main goal threat .

I'd be gutted to see Earnie go but his is getting on a bit now and we have Garner to fill his boots.

I think Garner and Whittingham in the team is better than for example Earnshaw and Tyson.

Thanks OTT. Interesting.

I'm not sure I'd want to see Earnshaw leave even if it means Whittingham coming in, but the AP know what they are doing.

Thanks again.

I was told today that he is on his way to Bolton - the money's too good for Forest to refuse
That would be a blow.

It would be softened if Pratley were to arrive and the Cohen money used to good effect elsewhere. If we just 'bank' it then I'd be a little miffed.

Interesting. I would keep Earnie at all costs. Cant think of a better finisher in the league. If he played away from home more he would score more - simples.

We should not sell any of our first team players, especially to a rival team. Anyone who thinks we should swap Earnie for Whittingham are crazy. Get rid of a few fringe players

Id love to see Whittingham and Pratley though, but not at the expense of Earnie

Agree with all of that.

I feel like some VIP insider reading that lot. Good to hear, especially the Shorey bit.

The left-back was named elsewhere as Molde player, Knut Rindaroy, 24yrs old and apparently likes to get foward. Had a trial with Everton and Man Utd in the Jan just gone and rated highly. Apparently out of contract at the end of the Norweigen season and thought of as someone who could become a permanent fixture in their starting line up, he only has 1 cap so far I think.

Here's hoping that firstly, he's a gem, and secondly, we get him if we don't get Shorey.

I hope not. I'd rather have earnie than whittingham. Its so rare to find a striker who is so consistent at scoring, whereas whittingham has only really had one or 2 good full seasons.

A strike force which includes either mcgoldrick or adebola in a staring place terrifies me!

Whittingham is obviously seen as the replacement for Cohen. Obviously, we would rather just keep hold but it's quite an ambitious Plan B.

Good stuff, if true.

Billy is trying to build a squad, not just keep things the same again. The squad is too small.

Getting Whittingham allows Cohen to play in the centre of midfield, be an emergency left back when our new left back might not be available etc...

Its all about adding and not selling, building a Championship winning squad.

If we got whittingham and pratley, where would cohen play?

Even in a 5 man midfield theres no real room to accomodate him. Billy is always going to pick mckenna. Pratley and whittingham would take 2 slots. Majewski would surely take a 4th....and then that leaves right midfield. Ando surely?

In any case if we do get our reported targets, cohen is probably going to make way. Pratley would be the one really doing what cohen does.

Its a shame as I think cohen is brilliant, but looking at our reported targets...its really hard to see where cohen could or would slot in.
