Am I allowed to do this?

Am i allowed to stand when forest have got a chance at goal?

I'm pretty sure I am, I kept getting told off by this old lady at yesterdays game!

She kept on tapping and shouting at me every time i stood up but even if i sat down she wouldn't be able to see anyway because the whole main stand was stood up!

SHE ALSO BLAMED ME FOR BLACKSTOCK MISSING HIS PENALTY

She kept on shouting abuse to Earnshaw by calling him a dirty dog which I didn't think was warranted.

Once when I was in the Trent Lower, right side of the goal, I got told off for standing up when we had a corner on the left side... even though practically everybody in front and to my left was stood up too, and the guy complaining was in the bit above the stairs. He was just a fat twat who was too lazy to stand up. Typical he only ever made a noise to complain, rather than support the team. Pretty sure he complained about us singing once, and he also complained about my brother's friend swearing. Great atmosphere down there

take her to the toilets and give her a good seeing too, you're ginger, you could probably do with it

Technically you're not allowed to stand up at all during the game because standing up is the most DANGEROUS THING IN THE WORLD! :frantic:

Except at half time when it's perfectly safe ::)

When I went to watch England v Croatia ( McClarens last game ) even though we were in the upper tier we were still standing after the national anthems, just behind me this geezer asked someone else to sit down, His answer was '' yes, when those in front of me sit down ''. This geezer then poured his drink down this blokes neck, slapped his burger in his face and when the victim turned round he received a swift knee to the jaw knocking him clean out.

After obviously being arrested, someone said that the bloke who got knocked out had SWFC tattoed on the back of his neck and the thug was a Sheff Utd fan.

I think it's persistent standing that is the issue.

They are not blind enough to outlaw standing as the paly nears the goal/excitement intensifies.

However, in relation to your point, perhaps they should have a segregated OAP area, much like they have for students, where standing can be universally frowned upon.

Someone who defended themselves/hit back after having a drink poured over them and a burger chucked in their face is a "thug"? :D

Clearly a very good idea. Don't understand why kids/quiet people/people who don't want to stand up aren't encouraged to go in one area and people who want to stand/sing whatever go in another.

Can't remember which club it was, Stoke or Preston, someone like that, but they pretty much did this and told everybody who wants to sing to go in Stand X.

Trent End/A Block/t'Corner for singers and everywhere else for the quieter people. How hard can it be? Everyone's a winner.

That's because the Stewards at Wembley are obviously not as regular a people who do it every other week and let you get away with pretty much anything.

It's also quite dangerous as you're sticking together supporters of all clubs together - we got aggro one match that Nicky Shorey was playing in as my mates a Reading fan and we were sat immediately in front of a skinhead with a Swindon tatoo.

Hmm I can see both sides to this debate.

I've had the same problem before. My old man will be 70 this year and he can't be doing with getting up and down every few minutes as the ball gets near a goalmouth.

He now no longer likes to go to the games "why should I pay for a seat and be forced to stand all game or not see anything, I'd rather listen to the radio and save my money".

I guess it also works for those with small kids.

I remember at old Wembley in the littlewoods cup final we had seats behind the goal which had no backs and I spent most of the game standing on the seat just to see as those in front had stood up and the terrace steps were very shallow!

IT can be annoying, I agree.

Last season we were up in v2 in our normal seats. I don't remember what game it was but it wasn't very busy. Some blokes in a group of 7or 8 were infront of us, in two rows . They insisted in standing for much of the game so me, my son and my elderly uncle couldn't see f*** all. As it wasn't busy I asked if they wouldn't mind moving and they could stand with out blocking our view. We were told to 'f*** off' and asked if we thought we were stewards. I tried to reason with them explaining I wasn't opposed to them standing if they took an unrestricted view but why should my uncle, 73, and my son have to stand up because these pissed and leary ***** think they are a law to themselves.

The problem is that too few people, and I suspect this includes the original poster, have any respect and consideration for others and it shows it self vividly when ever people are amassed.

I'm not opposed to people standing for the really exiting bits, but there are too many peeps who stand at the first opportunity when Forest are going forward. Look at the stats, we're not going to score. Stay seated. ;)

I had this last year when an old geezer kept ordering me to sit down and pulling on my hood. It ended up in a massive argument where I shouted some abuse at him and my dad got involved. I had the old blokes around me sticking up for me which for me put no doubt in my mind this wasn't a general problem for everyone.

After that I never had a problem with him.

Not so much with standing, as that would break a few laws, but the club should advise those who wish to sing to head for a certani stand. That way there may be a chance of creating a decent atmosphere.

The old terracing had atmosphere as people could migrate to areas where singing started.

In the TE lower last night, when we got the penalty, there was some some complete a--ehole who stood (ok 'cos everone was standing) but with his arms held up - result many of the people round me were shouting him to put his arms down cos their view was obscured. If he was closer, someone would have chinned him. If you are that such person - please desist from that thick stupidity, you selfish t--t. So to answer your question - yes you are allowed to stand up when things are happening, but you're not allowed to be a complete c--t and stop other people seeing!

You cant do anything in The Brian Clough upper.

Standing up gets the shout of "siit doown" from a pensioner women who is only there to keep an eye on her husband, not watch the game.

You coming over for the Peterborough game Rich? Wonder how much atmosphere a LTLF terrace congregation can generate :)

That's because some people aren't psychically able to stand up every time something exciting happens and people in front of them stop them seeing any goals/chances.

Clough has that kind of atmosphere but there are a lot of other places in the ground to sit where you can jump up and down all day long if you please.

simple solution is sit right at the back of said stand so there is no one behind you to moan!

Me and my dad always sit on the back row for that reason and if i can't be arsed to stand but someone decides to infront like last night can just lean back on the seat but what about when you have a kid sat infront of you who keeps putting his head back and rolling it about on your knee?
