AKA Randy Bumgardener
I know we have heard a lot of this before Link
But a few new bits of info
NOTTINGHAM Forest will bid to sign all seven of their recent loan signings permanently in the coming weeks, Billy Davies revealed today.
The Reds are now plotting to talk to Premiership clubs Liverpool and Aston Villa about signing Paul Anderson and Isaiah Osbourne.
And, while they had already admitted they are pursuing Dexter Blackstock of QPR and Spurs defender Chris Gunter, Davies also wants to add Brighton's Joel Lynch to his shopping list.
Forest are also considering an audacious bid to sign Gary McSheffrey – who Davies believes is one of the brightest talents outside of the Premiership – from Birmingham City.
While Davies is also hopeful of landing either Lee Camp, who had a successful spell on loan from QPR or Everton stopper Iain Turner.
He will put his proposals to the City Ground hierarchy at a meeting of the acquisitions panel today.
But work has already begun, with Davies admitting: "There are conversations taking place with Liverpool, about Anderson and with Brighton about Lynch."We are also looking at Gunter and Osbourne – we want to talk to their clubs to see what their thoughts are and what the prices might be and what they feel the future holds for them.
"Dexter has enjoyed himself and his goal at Blackpool will be remembered for a long time.
"He has fitted into the squad well and has given us a different dimension.
"I have great admiration for Lee Camp and he is a player we have worked with before.
"We have several targets in different positions."
Davies believes McSheffrey could have a significant impact, if he can be brought back.
"I would not rule McSheffrey out either, we have to be open minded and look at all possibilities," he said.
"Before he left we had a good conversation and my advice to him was simple – he has to get back to loving football.
"He has to get back to playing with desire and with passion and with a fitness level that he had when I tried to buy him when I was at Preston.
"He is such a wonderful talent but he has to get 100 per cent fit and be willing to fight tooth and nail to get back to being one of the best players in the Championship again.
"That is what he has got in his locker. He is a player I admire.
"I don't know what Birmingham's thoughts are. But at the moment we are preparing a list and McSheffrey is on it."
Davies is aiming to sign all of his targets permanently, but says he would consider further loans if that is the only option.
"I have said time and time again that we have to build for the future and leave the loan market for what it is – which is the second best option and something you use to top up your squad when necessary," he said.
"We need to show intent in the transfer market and build a group of young players who can stand us in good stead for the future.
"We may bring in players on loan if, for example, Spurs did not want to let Gunter move permanently, but would let us have him for a year on loan. But now is the time to buy and build for the future."
"Transfers are a complex process, but hopefully we can get something done."
A very good interview with BD. Certainly we're not used to this amount of openness with reference to transfers. May it work better ?
