i'm relatively new on here, but i have noticed reading some threads that people often ridicule Rogers, and call him an awful player.

Well im thinking- was he really that bad?

when he first came to the club(after psycho left) nobody really noticed, as he was doing such a good job.

Then he came back on loan, in early 2004, when Joe Kinnear signed him on loan. In kinnears first game (3-3 draw with walsall classic game BTW), rogers played very well, and played well for the rest of the 03-04 season( i had a season ticket).

However, in 04-05, when i also had a season ticket, Rogers played quite well, but then Megsons ridiculous allegation (posting squads on blooming forest??) exiled him from the squad and then he became a scapegoat figure.

yes, he wasnt in great shape, but he was still quite quick up and down the wings and was a solid left back, IMO.

so was he really THAT bad?

I actually think that that is an excellent post. Most on here I dont think would agree with you, but we've had rather worse players, and actually, there were times that we played him at left mid and he was one of the most likely creative players. Although that does not say a great deal for the team we had. I don't know the truth of what happened with him and the allegations, but if true, he was only one of a troublesome group at the club, and he has somewhat unfairly been made a scapegoat.

I'm not old enough to remember him from his first spell, however when he came back on loan I felt he had a very good loan spell for the handful of games he played in.

Having said that the following season that saw us relegated wasn't particuarly good for him, then again it wasnt for the majority of the season! Gareth Taylor was one of the better performers which says it all really.

I thought he was a good left back when he first played for us, he also scored against Manchester United in the 8-1 game .

He wasn't as bad as people made out when he came back, he played an awesome ball for Taylor when we played spurs in the cup, I know thats just one thing but he did do alot more.

Hoax

One thing that sticks in my mind with regards to Rodgers was when he did his knee in about 10 metres in front of me.

It's Baggio

John Robertson
He was excellent in his 1st spell.

Started OK in his second spell, then turned in to a fat waster that cost the club an absolute fortune.

Spring Heeled Jack

Spring Heeled Jack
I rated him in his first spell, then he pissed off to the bin dippers and was morphed into one of the worst players I have seen in a Forest shirt. He was fortunate that he played alongside David Friio.

He was a big part in us staying up when he came on loan.

Sadly he then just coasted and took his paycheck and became a big part in us going down the following season.

Taken that the allegations made against him under Megson are true then he should be lynched if he ever comes within 20 miles of the City Ground.

First spell ;D - keen, interested and a decentish LB who we missed when he moved on
Loan spell :) - well he helped to delay the inevitable
Second spell - fat, lumbering, poorly disciplined and generally uninterested - came to epitomise all that was wrong with Forest before Megson began to swing his axe

Bout right that.

I always thought he got a rough deal when he went to Leicester. Anyone with half a brain knows it wasn't his choice. Quite how he received worse stick at the CG than Commons did I'll never know.

But anyway, his second spell proper was so disastrous for himself and the club that it's taken over any good times he had the first time around. Shame, but that's life. He was part of the championship winning side that pissed the league, but that's forgotten.

General concensus 'tank' in the first spell was decent, second spell was shit

The one thing i remember about him was when he came back to play against us,he was playing for leicster and went to take a corner right in front of the A block and on that day some choclate firm was giving out free choclate around the ground. When he went to take the corner he must of been hit with 50-100 bars of the choclate.if i remember rightly the ref stopped the game for a bit to remove all the choclate.
thats my memory of him.

Put it this way.

You're seeing a girl and everythings going great.

Then she leaves you, for a guy who lives nearby who really doesn't like you, even though you don't give a shit about him.

You're gutted, but you vow to move on and survive without.

Initially you do but then things start going a bit wrong and you're getting into trouble.

Then this girl returns for a fling, while she's still with the other bloke.

Initially you're sceptical but she's really up for it and she's doing some pretty good things in the sack.

Things are back on track and she leaves the other guy to come back to you.

You're excited, however within a year, you notice she's put on a few pounds and is asleep before you even get into bed.

Worse than that, she's maxed out all your credit cards and is still asking for more money.

You ask her to leave and she refuses and asks for more money.

She puts on more weight before finally you manage to ship her off to a bloke in Bradford.

Slag.

As a Leicestershire Red it's the cardinal sin of joining the bin dippers that did the damage.

If Forest told me to bogger off then I'd sign for them too. Anyway, it's nothing like as bad as Commons to Derby, but he didn't get so much as a smartie thrown at him.

Anyone that thinks Tank was a muppet haven't really seen his Forest career. He was an awesome prospect that never got to where he could have.

I remember times I was proud he was Red, I remember times I wasn't. We slated him on his return but in all are we not the culprits? Did we not expect what he couldn't deliver?

He was very good in his first spell with the club, he was decent during his loan spell, as soon as that was made permanent he was a disgrace both on the pitch and with his moaning and chelping off it.

Sadly often the last 'contribution' a player makes is the one that lingers in memory, and in the case of Rogers it was sufficiently bad to eclipse his previous good works.

Pity, as has been said elsewhere, he certainly had potential to have done more in the game than he did.

It was also alleged that Rogers was leaking teamsheets prior to matchdays and was banned from training with the rest of the squad and also banned from the CG.

There's a lot of crap talked about his first spell with us. He was always f*cking useless and an absolute pr*ck to match.

No his first spell, i.e. "he was alright in his first spell."

No, he was f*cking rubbish then as well. One of the worst players in the club's history.
