On the BBC website it states the ruling a bit more clearly

But clubs who go into administration after today's (26 March 2009) 1700 GMT deadline face having their 10-point deduction suspended.

If the club is relegated the points will be deducted from their tally at the start of next season but if the club stays up the 10 points will be taken off their final total.

The club would then go down if the 10-point deduction subsequently resulted in it slipping into a relegation place.

Glad that the ruling has changed to stop struggling teams avoiding the drop by holding out till the end of the season.....

I took some pleasure on clarifying that on a Southampton forum where they thought they'd be safe if they went into administration after the deadline.....

Well, they'd need to be the last of the late brakers to go into administration now.

I think everyone, even Charlton, will go beyond the deadline.
