Adebola

I love the positive atmosphere around at the moment, and I know its not the end of the world as we have some talented strikers as well, but it has to be said, adebola really is terrible. You may say he is a good impact sub when chasing a game, but what exactly does he offer? He's very slow obviously, but also, he doesn't go up for headers either. Defenders win all the high balls against him. He poses no more threat, as far as i can see, than sticking wes up front...at least wes challenges in the air. Discuss (if you want).

I don't think he wins enough headers either, but I certainly don't think he's terrible.

He does offer us something else, because he's strong and can hold the ball up better than any other strikers. He's also surprisingly adept on the deck and so is able to hold onto the ball well.

He's one of those players that polarises opinion - a bit like Smithy - because people sometimes don't see what they do well because they're too busy looking at the things they don't do so well.

I think he is an excellent addition to the squad.

He offers nothing? - maybe I imagined his knockdown to Moussi to score against Barnsley.

Magnificent part of the squad, strong, muscular and actually isnt that slow.

I've been very disappointed with Dele's aerial ability as 9 times out of 10 the defender will beat him in the air.

However what I think he does do is draw defenders away from dangerous area that the more talented player can exploit.

Didn't he do the same vs QPR. He also had an influence on Lewis's goal (however lucky it was)

He isn't terrible, he gives us another option and I don't know why people keep saying he is that bad when he has essentially been limited to bench starts as Earnie has !

He isn't terrible at all, he's the kind of striker we have been missing for a few seasons (cant think who was the last player that was similar to him?). Obviously he is not as good as Blackstock or Earnshaw, but he is an important part of a good squad we have here. If we didn't have him we would most certainly be missing him.

He is slow and his touch is poor and just seems to bundle his way through most times. Very frustrating to watch but he's a very useful sub, he occupies defenders and knows where to be, he's played a big role in a few goals so far

if it wasnt for the fact we lost the game 4-2 I think more people would talk about how well he took his chance against watford. I like delle and think hes just what we need when we are hanging on in games he is a outlet for deffenders and helps to stop the ball comming right back at us

If I was a defender, a bit tired having been given the run around by our Plan A strike force, and after 75 minutes saw one of our forwards go off, I think there's few people I'd hate to see come on more (at this level anyway) than a massive brute like Dele.

He's not first choice but he is very decent to have in the squad.

As has been said elsewhere, would those of you that are critical of Dele prefer we were still in the situation where we were bringing on the likes of Emile Sinclair or Adam Newbold?

stop moaning will you :nowink: if we didn't have a forward like Dele you would be whinging about that!!

we finally have a team that plays football the way it ought to be played, enjoy it while you can ;D

I will say one thing, I am glad he is in the team/squad for next Saturday and not Adam Newbold.

Will we get a better 4th/5th choice stiker in this division? I don't think so.

I just knew from the minute that he signed that Adebola would become the fans scapegoat. Anyone who saw him play against us for Bristol last year and saw him almost single handedly change the game in the cup match against Boro will know how useful he is. I think the fact that he holds the ball up so well and creates so much space for someone like Garner (I think the pair of them should start up front together on saturday as i think they'll complement each other excelllently) means he is a very useful player to be able to bring on. If he was the only attacking option that we had at our disposal then I would be worried, but he isn't. He is exactly what he is, an option and I for one am glad that we have it.

OK saying he's terrible is probably a bit far...but would you see him as a better striker than Tyson, Earnie, Dexter, Garner, or Mcgoldrick? Fine as a 6th choice, but he is getting more time on the pitch than I would like. We have been crying out for a target man, but Blackstock satisfies that role a lot, lot better than Adebola.

there's a moment just after he comes on against Cardiff. Cardiff are starting to push on and the game is getting a lttle stretched. Adebola has his back towards the Cardiff goal just inside their area half, he takes the ball sideways about 2 yards with cool little step and dribble. In that time everyone in the Cardiff team has gone back to shape, Chopra comes back to tackle him, he lays the ball off. Pressure off. That's what he offers.

No, he is not better, but Blackstock, Tys and Earnie are all injured! I am not sure I see your point? He clearly is a 4th/5th choice striker and we can do no better than that at the moment.

Whis is why Dexter has been playing. The fact he is now injured shows means the Adebola has come in.

I just don't think he's a championship standard player. I think promotion this season is actually a realistic goal, but not if players of his calibre spend too long on the pitch.

Err, no it isn't. He's got surprisingly good ball control, seems to skin players more often than our other strikers.

I think you might just find that players like dele will win us promotion.

I cant be arsed to argue my point for the 10th time this season but he will be more and more important as this season continues and we find ourselfs hanging onto narrow leads, and you never know he might just bag the odd goal aswell, id go as far as saying hes been more usefull than garner this season

He was Bristol City's top scorer last season, that means he got more than Garner and Tyson but I do not see you criticising them?

If you can inform me of any other championship team that has more than 4 championship standard strikers that are better I will concede. Otherwise, I think you are moaning for no good reason.

I like Ade. Contrary to popular opinion, his game is based on getting the ball to his feet, so in that way, he doesn't offer anything different to what we SHOULD be playing. However, he's probably the hardest Forest forward to shake off the ball. He provides a different problem to our other forwards because of this. Yes, I'd still have Dex 1st choice, but certainly don't moan if Ade comes on.
