I'm with you all the way on this one mate! i would also add Mcgoldrick and possibilly Mcgaugan to that list as well, we have to sign better players next season no matter what division we are in.

So, without the goals Lewis scored, Dele scored and his assists late on in matches, would we be where we are now ? I think we'd be fighting to make the playoffs right now.

We make the playoffs and STILL fans see the need to repeatedly find scapegoats. It's getting very tiring !

Without McGoldrick's goals, we'd be three points worse off I believe. Without Adebola's assists, we'd be worse off and without McGugan's goals we'd be worse off.

Put them all together and we'd be struggling to stay inside the play-offs.

None of Dele Adebola's goals have had an impact on the result of a game (2nd goal versus Preston, 5th versus Leicester, consolation versus Watford). If one assist against Barnsley is his sole contribution of note to our season, I'm sure that's pretty much the absolute bare minimum you could expect of any kind of human-shaped thing that you'd put on a football pitch. I dare say the loss of two points would hardly have killed our season.

Let's face it, Adebola has been rubbish. Consistently so. He's old, he's immobile, he has now put in a string of away performances that have been worse than ineffective, they have been embarrassing. For his assist against Barnsley, he made up for it with twin misses AT Barnsley that many of us would have scored. He just hasn't done anything this season - this is not anything personal against him, I just don't see why we cannot be honest about a player here.

In the cases of McGoldrick, McGugan and Lynch, we're talking about young players not featuring consistently. They're worth more time. Adebola unfortunately has been awful and in being awful has stunted the growth of one of our most promising prospects in Garner. If I appear to hold a grudge against him then it is for this reason - that Garner is a vastly superior footballer who has been forced into midfield, then out of the squad, because of Adebola.

And I can't help but think that maybe if, instead of Adebola, Blackstock had started against Reading, against Blackpool (1st time) or West Brom (1st time), we might be sitting even more comfortably.

I agree with your sentiments. But If you took adebola and mcgugans goals out of the equation we would actually only probably be 1 point worse off. Of adebola's 3 goals, one came in the 4-2 defeat at home to watford. And the other 2 in games we coasted against leicester and preston.
None of which are important.

Mcgugans goals came against donny and preston, in games which were over by the time he came on....and of course the point saver against cardiff.

I imagine adebola's put some assists in, the only one I remember being one for dexter.

Just playing devils advocate though :)

I don't think Adebola has much of a future at the club, but he has done a job this season. Fine, he hasn't scored many but has five assists (might be four, not sure) which is one of the best at the club.

Add to it the fact that without them, we wouldn't of had the luxury of resting players when we needed. Imagine the injuries possibilities if we can't allow a player a stint on the bench to recouperate !

Wow over a whole season lol you call that good hahahahaha

Given that he hasn't played that much, five assists is actually a pretty good haul.

Not a lot of players would be able to claim five or more assists.

Well it proves one thing, just how far fans rating and standards of players has fallen!!

Maybe I could understand your point if we had spent 6 million on him, but it stands that we got him for nothing.

If you put a quid on a horse and got a fiver back would you class that as a failure ?

Let's face it what's the point of any of them? What do they actually do? Put a red shirt on once or twice a week and run around a field kicking a bag of wind around for 90 minutes. What's all that about? What's the meaning of it all? Why do they bother eh? Why Oh Why Oh Why? I've a good mind to send a strongly worded letter to my local mp........ or something. Boils my piss it does.

If this is what folk think of us in the Championship god help the players when we are playing premiership football next season, but I suppose blaming players is easy when your watching from the stands.

Wtf has money got to do with it? it doesn't matter if we spent 10 million or 10 bob and a pickled egg, the guy is too old and completely shit free transfer or not.

Is this the best we can do?

As much as i want us to go up , i feel we are far from ready struggling against some of the teams away from home in this league really proves just how far away we are. At the end of the day Nottingham forest are not good enough for the premiership

At the beginning of the seaon we no one expected us to be where we are now, but our SQUAD has punched well above its weight this term for that we should be thankful.

I am sure BD knows exactly what is expected in the Premiership and will let the T.A.C. know that in the close season when we go up.

I give up. If you can't see that a player who has won us points on several occasion, on a free transfer was worth a punt then no-one will convince you. We have 2 top quality league strikers, we needed back-ups, and he has been the most productive of all of them.

I think we are good enough. The unbeaten run shows that, however, I think it's obvious to us all that heavy investment is required, wether we go up or not.

Actually, each of mcgoldricks goals has either won us the game or secured a point. Even though he cost more, his contributions have been far more valuable than adebolas
