A New Maturity For Lewis ?

I couldn't help noticing a new side of Lewis during his last interview. A player known for his strutting round the City Ground, I couldn't but smile a bit seeing his post match interview following the Coventry match.

In it he states how he has to listen to the manager following his dressing down. That he realises his form hasn't been good enough, that he needs to up it to the level expected because, at the end of the day, the manager just wants to make him a better player !

A very mature way of addressing recent comments. He could of sat there and taken it on his chin with a hint of bitterness, but rather than that he seems to acknowledge his levels have been poor.

Excellent ! We all know the lad has a hell of a lot of talent locked up, just generally question how much he uses it and if it's possible for a prolonged period. Billy obviously sees a lot of potential in him, and has targetted him as a player who could be integral to Forest over the following seasons !

Another example of where Billy wants to push players to the next level. How often did we see the players agreeing with a critical comment publicly from CC and show a willingness to improve. I'd go as far to say that Lewis looked nearly excited at the prospect of BD's guidance. It won't be easy but I can see a few players returning after the summer with an added ability. We are already seeing benefits in McCleary in short bursts and others will follow !

still think he is over-rated.

mcleary is twice as good.

As always, fails to actually respond to the post!!

I, due to computer issues etc, can't watch interviews and highlights on World, but am really happy if what you're saying could be true, Randy!

Lewis is a quality player, we all know this, but he is also one of the most frustrating! I am really looking forward to keeping up to date with the progress of the players over pre season with Billy and, providing we stay up, players like Lewis could well be integral to our push up the championship over the next couple of seasons.

If everyone is fit , McGugan wouldn't even be in the side , it should be Osbourne & Cohen in the middle. McGugan is effective in bringing on 20 minutes from time to provide that spark but 90 minutes , he is far less effective , much like McCleary who has become forest supersub in recent months.

I think he has realised he has no way been upto scratch ! Looks a lot more humble and realistic. Hopefully that will push him on. The effect BD's motivational techniques is having on the plyers is becomming plain to see.

He seems very much of the ''no player is bigger than the club'' school of thought. We may of questioned his comments earlier, but if this is the effect it is having they may be a stroke of genious !

Its no surprise players like lewis, mccleary are the most fustrating. Players who make things happen out of nothing and who can be so close to creating a goal for it then to be dashed are gonna raise hopes then bring them crashing down. But when it all clicks they can be instant heroes. We have to remember how young they are and that their peaks are a number of years away.

They seem far less effective because they are soooo effective when they come on as subs. Its just a matter of time before they are are doing it for the 90. Problem is when that happens other clubs will come sniffing

Who gives a shit?

It was a Saturday night, after a game - which we won and they both played alright - with no more games for a week.

Ok flip flop......I have no issue with them getting pissed after a game, i have an issue when Lewis says in his post-match interview "we are all professionals" and is then seen trying to score a header with a light bulb in a pub whihc is spitting distance from the ground.......it's not even his light bulb to header anyway

you cheeky gimp

Thanks for that.

I'll have you know my name is Felipe Felop, not flip flop.

And I'm certainly not a gimp; the masks just feel nice on my skin.

I have an issue with them getting pissed after a game. If youre a pro athlete your physical development is massively impaired if you re-feed your body with alcohol after an intensive workout, thats just basic and plain dumb. Save it for a time when you have a couple of days off. Its frustrating because players would develop so much more quickly if they stuck to their nutrition plans. Is it impossible in UK culture to go out and not drink?

McCleary hasn't got anywhere near as much league experience as McGugan, Lewis should know alot better by now, unlike McCleary who i think is beginning to realise his potential..

I don't like hearing of players getting pissed - just doesn't seem professional really.
Lewis always seems to have potential and he has some unbelievable tricks. He just needs to get fit - really fit; then he will be able to do those tricks 80 mins into a game where he has been grafting throughout.
As for McCleary - I think he's our most improved player recently - what a pity that we don't expect him to score from the decent chances he gets. Shooting practice???????

Hearing and actually knowing are two different things. Okay you don't get smoke without fire but don't take everything you hear on these forums as grace. As for mccleary we know he can shoot(ipswich). I would say he needs to compose himself and stop snatching at his chances. Experience will see to that.

You can see the improvement in Garath McCleary over the past few months since the new management team came in; I only hope that Lewis sees this and also knuckles down a bit. Still with pre-season with Billy to come, Lewis should come back leaner and fitter than ever, and next season, could develop in to the player we all want him to be (and, deep down, think he should be!)
