A better strike force?

1st off, just think that not long ago we had Holt and Agogo up front!

2nd, do you reckon anyone in the division has a better line up of strikers than us now? Earnshaw, Tyson, McSheffry and Garner. Its a pretty awesome front line.

Also, McSheffry might want to stay according to the NEP, and Sky Sports ...

Some other teams have 2 forwards in double figures, and some have scored 20+.

Reading: Doyle, Hunt, Long and Lita

Wolves: Keogh, Iwelumo, Ebanks-Blake, Kightly and probably more that I can't remember

I do think our frontline is very good now, though.

Kightly is a winger, really though.

But I'd agree that we have a potentially very good front line. Currently that potential is not being fulfilled.

A team starts from the Goal Keeper.

Along with every other position the top three blow everyone else away in terms of strikeforces

Wolves - EbanksBlake, Iwelumo, Vokes and Keogh
Reading - Doyle, Hunt, Lita and Long
Brum - O'Connor, Philips, Jerome, McFadden, Sinclair, Bent... no wonder gary needs to come to us to get a few games under his belt!!

But yeah, our strikeforce is looking good. just hope this doesnt mean joe is likely to move on, the guys got goals in him for sure.

We have a good but slightly fragile front line in terms of injuries.

McSheffrey said he is leaving options open, 'it depends what the manager says'. Nothing in that just what any player joining a new club on loan woud say so as not to upset the fans.

Indeed. I can't imagine Sinclair and/or Newbold would have started games for any other team in this division.

I think Earnie would get into any team in the league. I think any team would take Garner too. He was better than Vokes in league one and Vokes is at Wolves.

My one dissapointment from BD so far is that Garners form seems to have suffered under him. He looked great in CC last few games. I hope he dosn't write him off.

We know Mcsheffrey can do it from his 16 goal promtion season at Brum and 28 premiership games. Tyson can terrify any tired defence with his pace.

We have a central midfield to rival anyone in the league. Any two from Cohen, Moussi, Mcgugan and Osbourne.

Hopefully Moloney can get another chance at rightback. Wingers aren't our strongest point. Mcleary is improving, him and Anderson have shown promise. We could probably do with another.

Morgan is doing well and although Wilson hasn't been great this year, he was immense last year and much improved recently.

A few additions and keeping or replacing our loans and we could make the playoffs. Rob Jones and Lee Croft are good targets to have.

Doubt it. But they are back up to second choice, so when the chips are down, they will get a game. You can't expect them to be that good or they would be forst choice or off to another club.

The club are to blame for not having slightly better "rubbish" players

Vokes is very good. The guys only 19, got twelve in the league last season for a relegated side (only two less than garner who was in a promotion chasing team), in a season which he started aged 17. Real prospect.
Not sure its accurate to say any team in the league would take garner at all, although i like the guy a lot and think he'll come good if given the chance, but its spot on about earnie.
Thats what 2.6 million buys you in a striker, guaranteed goals, and anyone who doubts doughty and his commitment to the club should take a good look at that transfer. A huge sum of money for a club in this division, higher than many teams entire transfer budget, which he invested, very wisely, in a player of top top quality. Great signing and a great player.

A little unfair on Garner. Remember how much of the season he missed through injury. Also remember what happened to Carlisles form when he was missing.

For people mentioning we haven't the depth of the top clubs in the strike dept, yeah, fair point, there are a few teams with better. But we have some real class at the moment, esp compared to recent seasons, and we're not far off. Look how far we've come ... feels good don't it :)

Potentially we'll have gone no where if we drop back into League One.

Safety this season is the priority chaps.

Didn't mean to question garner at all, i really rate him. Just saying that vokes had a great season. Garner still made 30 odd starts that season i think... so his injury didn't rule him out of as many games as people would make you think.

The strike force is certainly impressive on paper, it just needs tranferring to the pitch. I can see McSheffrey and Earnie having a good parnership together. Add to that either Tyson or Garner as a 3 striker, it really looks good if we wqere to play 4-3-3.

Spot on, without Earnie's goals we would be in all kinds of trouble.

I think Wolves, Reading, Brum all have better strike forces without a doubt. I would argue there are many sides with a better strike force.
