A thread so that we can celebrate acheiving our season's objective by the end on January.

We are staying up.

I hope so. I was getting really worried about the thought of league 1 again. Then I remembered I don't support Derby !

Leicester weren't safe with 52 points and neither are we.

I was going to start this thread when we reached 50+

Every point in the next 3/4 months counts towards automatic or play-offs!

Automatic appeals for obvious reasons, but I would love to win at Wembley again. ;D

Problem for the sides that achieve promotion via the play off final, is that players available to help a serious push to establish PL status have already been tapped up three or four weeks before your promotion is confirmed, leaving you with the dross, who will bleed you dry after a a failure to achieve survival.

Fine example Dirby County and Robbie Savage

True. Victor is staring down the barrel of a 6 million pay out closer than ever before!

Didn't Derby sign Savage in the January transfer window?

They did however buy Earnie in between seasons and I wouldn't consider him dross. He was admittedly a bit pants for them, though. ;D

I may be mistaken young Stratty :(, but I do hope you undertsand the gist of the post

I do. A day out at Wembley would be brilliant but we could do with all the preparation time we can get should we win promotion.

So glad to be in the position we are. Another season in League One would be bad for my physical (and mental, mind) health.

Then again, I don't feel much sympathy for the Sheep. ;D

I will be able to sleep a lot better now I know this, the fear of League One again is enough to keep anyone awake at night!

Dont think its such a problem this year, the play offs have been dragged forward to accomodate the world cup so the difference is less. Plus, with the world cup taking place- it will put a completely different complexion on the market place.
Most deals probably wont actually start rolling till after that as teams will scout heavily at the WC. Also, teams will be reluctant to sell other players till they know what they are getting from the world cup.

Basically, I dont think winning the play offs this season...will hamper any team as much as it usually does :)

To be fair, look at what he had behind him? He never had a chance as they were constantly defending (and not very well!). He did score a sweet goal against Arsenal though.
