2026-27 preparation - hopes and dreams

In terms of P&SR compliance Norman, I hope we can pull-off a bit of clever jiggery-pokery again.
I think regarding PSR we are just about okay as the £30m odd we got from Europe has helped and we didn’t really spend that much in the summer - and basically none in Jan.

I’ve not seen any reports that we won’t be okay normally it’s out now if teams are close to breaching.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the Anderson deal is done within the next few weeks. Because if it’s not and he does what we know he’ll do at the World Cup then his price rockets again. Hopefully we can get all our business done nice and early both in and out as I think that helped us a lot the season before this one.

Last year's 65 points would have guarenteed CL football this time around already.

I am sure the objective set by EM will be get into Europe again this coming year.

WIth the 3 teams coming up unlikely to trouble the top half, and teams like Leeds, Sunderland and Brentford unlikely to have such good seasons again.

Fulham, Bournmouth and Palace with new mangers and the latter 2 might even have the burden of europe to contend with.

Spurs and Everton? We should be aiming to finsh ahead of, thats around 9th place, we just need a few quality additions in the right areas and lets see what happens.

World Cup summers tend to be slow movers for transfers. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't make many moves before late July/August.

That's fine, providing we don't gut the core of the squad and we get our manager situation clarified early on.

I think we've really got something here, if we fine tune it. Last season was incredible but we fell short at the end. This season has been pretty shit but at the same time, Europa League semi-final and if you were to count us from when Ange left, we'd be 7th in the league since.

I think in terms of objectives it'd have to be a top half finish and a good cup run, ideally getting some European football again in the process but it's an ask with so many good teams in the league. I've really loved the Europa League but next year, we just have the league to focus on.

Build the team around Gibbs-White, durr.

In terms of recruitment, it's hard to know who can come in because we don't know who will go out. Anderson is as good as gone, so I think we'll need to adjust a little there, perhaps with a different profile of midfielder. I'd be okay if Murillo went but I don't think someone will cough up the money we'd want given his inconsistencies. I think Aina has reached his peak and I'm questioning Hudson-Odoi. I think a lot of the lads signed this season could potentially move on like Ndoye, Bakwa, Kalimuendo and Savona. I'd like to see Jota Silva get another spin. I think we need another winger that has got delivery or can finish. Summerville would be a fantastic signing for the left side. I think we've got to give serious thought to the striker too because Wood has a chronic condition, Jesus isn't a 9 and Taiwo could break any game. Anderson's replacement for me would be James Garner, if we could pull that one off. Less is more though, look at the 24-25 summer window as the blueprint.

I'd love for them to stop f***ing about with the stadium, either it's getting built or it's not. Feels like maybe EM is waiting for CL football but i dont think that's coming any time soon.

I want Vitor to get a proper summer. The talk about Silva and him being the one to take us forward, think it's really disrespectful to VP considering how he's kept us up. Vitor got his legs cut out at Wolves this season and I really like his management style and his personality.

Pre Season needs to be much better. We didn't prepare properly this season, That was likely due to Nuno throwing the towel in, not getting players up to fitness and not implementing any tactical ideas.

Chesterfield 0-0 Forest
Forest 0-0 Monaco
Forest 1-3 Fulham
Estoril 0-0 Forest
Birmingham 1-0 Forest
Forest 0-0 Fiorentina
Forest 0-0 Al Qadsiah

The level of teams we play in the upcoming pre season needs to be of a higher quality especially as we have had our first taste of European Football in 30 years and are heading into a 5th Premier League season.

Some sensible recruitment, hopefully keep MGW and Murillo, look at being in the top 12/European qualification mix come May 27 and target the cups.

We didn't spend much in summer?

We made a loss of £80m last year. We'll likely end up finishing 9 or 10 places lower than we did last season so most of the additional revenue secured through European competition will end up offsetting the additional £27m+ we'd got last year from finishing higher in the league.

We spent around £200m on transfers this year so amortise and add to the operating loss from last year and we're looking at £130m loss this year. We'll have realised around £50m on Elanga, £15m on Danilo and the other that left probably added up to about £10m.

Factoring in higher wage bill, additional bonuses for European adventure etc then I'd probably guess we'll post an operating loss of £65m-£75m for the season which is about to finish.

Not all of that counts against PSR of course, so we should just about come under the £105m 3yr allowable losses, but probably not by much.

And there's no obvious room to improve the operating loss from here without shifting one of our big 3 three hitters, or getting rid of the £200m summer spend almost entirely by getting good bids in for Kalimuendo, Ndoye and Hutchinson and removing their annual amortisation from our books.

Think that has to be Forest's strategy this window: Flog Anderson for north of £100m, try and get our money back on the three mentioned above. That'll then give us £200m odd to spend again and hopefully this time we make a better go of it and have a transfer window more like 2 years ago.

Everything is on such a fine balance at this level, I legit expected Edu to be the best guy for the job this time last year and would have never expected that decision to almost cost us our place in this league, even with the best intentions things can really go wrong.

The big man has done wonders for the club but if I was him I'd really be looking at some of the smarter club models in the league and bringing in their, or other experts in of this stature, there still seems to be too much gut feel and hunches enabling decisions, which I get comes with the passion of being involved and taking a club to the top but I'd really like to see a educated and experienced level of governance come in to curtail the gut feel a bit on a number of issues.

Anyway, I'm hoping its Syrianos who is putting together the final touches on the executive summary for the Transfer feasibility study right now

we come in under the £105m I don't really care 🤣
And I prob worded it wrong with the sales we made we didn't relatively spend that much I think we got about £100m in total in transfers and loan fees this season - and a loss of about £70m is prob about standard in the PL unless you are Man U/Chelsea/Liverpool/Spurs/City and or fudge the books. And like you say this doesn't all go on PSR and there is all the amortisation nonsense going on. I also think we were on the bubble that's why in Jan we didn't spend any money. No Club did though really.

And I agree we will sell Anderson this summer I have made my peace with that and sadly we need to really to balance the books, we should get £100m at least for him but lets see. We move to SCR next year which will be interesting to see how it goes as only being allowed to spend 70% is it of Turnover on playing staff/coaches etc with our relatively small income, we really need to get the re-developing of the CG started as we need to maximise our match and no match day revenue I imagine we are near the bottom in the chart of this.

I also have a feeling players like Ndoye and a few others will be moved on.

It's a huge summer that we need to get rite, last Summer was a mess, no idea what European comp we would end up in (Not our fault) the whole Nuno thing, starting the season under some uncertainty after a poor pre-season and ultimately that bled into the start of the season and we only just recovered form it by the end of the season.

I want a boring season - but it's Forest so we won't it'll be chaos again.

I think theres a chance we keep both of them. As much as MGW has had an outstanding season, I can't see any of the top teams having a space in the side for him, especially if hes wanting to play regular football.
The only side I could see that being, would be Manchester United, but, thats only if they get rid of Bruno. As for Murillo, I think his injury/fitness issues this season have cost him, and, at the same time, the developments that Abbott and Jair have made this season, are as much of a reason to get rid of Morato this summer.

We made £52.5m from last summer's transfers and spent £205.6m (that won't include January). Our prize money from the Europa was under £25m but I don't know what happens with the gate receipts from the home games which would add to that.

We'd only get any profit added (or loss taken off) from selling any of those players ( the full amount of we do it before the end of June for this year's PSR or a third per year for SCR) so it wouldn't give huge amounts to spend on transfers unless you turn tidy profits on anyone other than Anderson.

Can't see United coming in for MGW to be honest. He's 25/26 so it would take a huge offer and would be relatively low sell on value for them.

Murillo I think is managing one recurring injury and let's be honest fully fit is possibly the most talented Forest Player this century.

I think abbott needs a good loan to learn his craft. He has a chance but now needs to prove it.

Nothing to add, but I couldn’t let a Kirsty MacColl quotation go unappreciated and that’s a great ear worm to start the day with.
