2026-27 preparation - hopes and dreams

Now we’re safe…what’s the realistic vision for our summer plans?

My nostalgia is kicking in with hoping for a superstar World Cup USA signing a-la Bryan Roy.

I’d love to keep at least one of Murillo, MGW and Anderson. There’s no European football but that does mean extra days off and there’s no World Cup or European Champs at the of next season so is it beyond comprehension that they stay?!?!?! Probably but we need to plan and buy early before clubs KNOW we’ve just got £x million in the bank after selling one of them.

VP to stay just for stability’s sake.

Some more signings like CHO and Elanga - low cost with big potential rather than mid price gambles.

Far too early to say unfortunately. It's all going to depend on who moves on, how much we get, what the budget is and what type of system/style/player VP is looking for.

Vitor to stay and to keep hold of MGW.......and bringing in a replacement for Elliot Anderson. A couple of experienced defenders.......one to replace Morato.

A chill preseason, with a manager who will be here from the beginning, will be left to work and will (largely) dictate transfers without others overriding, and with us retaining most of our good players. Some actual stability. Is it too much to ask, Big Vangelis?

I hope we’ll sell no more than one of EA, MGW and Murillo. I hope we’ll keep VP and see what a bit of stability can achieve. I hope we’ll continue to recognise that matchday prices have been too high. I hope our shirt designers abandon crappy pinstripes and even crappier shields. I hope we get to see a lot more Matchday Pass videos than this season.

I dream we’ll win the FA Cup as we haven’t won it in my lifetime, though I’d settle for another League Cup. I dream a Sky 6 team will be relegated (or another one, if Tottenham manage it this season). I dream there will be genuine news/progress in the redevelopment of the WFCG.

Just let us keep most of our best players, and sign some new ones that excite us and make us believe.

As for who we sign, I'm leaning towards experienced pros this time around. Someone mentioned how good a signing Xhaka has been for Sunderland a few days ago. Imagine how good some of our experienced 22/23 players (Felipe, Aurier etc.) would've been if they were plugged into a more settled side like we have now.

Leicester achieving complete financial ruin and going down to League Two would also be nice, but I'm not picky.

I'm resigned to losing Anderson and we should get enough to not need to lose anyone else. A summer break where we can concentrate on getting transfers right rather than missed emails will be nice too.

I just want watching Forest to be enjoyable.

Hopes are that we retain the services of VP and keep hold of Anderson, MGW & Murillo. Find a decent understudy to Wood.

Dreams are of winning the Premier League and FA Cup.

Keep VP, should he want to stay. I'm not seeing anyone better out there right now.

Players will come and players will go. Lets hope that we get it more right than wrong this time.

Good pre-season. Maybe some quality games.

Get to 40 points as soon as we can. Then push on to qualify for Europe again.

Good cup runs.

And hopefully, the best bit.......getting planning permission to get the ground redevelopment saga moving!

Half the league could be in Europe that should help us as we will have a lot more time for players to rest.

It will be very hard to get bussiness done early because of the World Cup. Also I imagine we will have to wait on outgoings at the bigger clubs and also our club before the real work starts.

Also who is currently in charge of recruitment?

Does VP stay? Marco Silva? Lots of questions but I do feel we need to get our coach sorted ASAP.

Has VP earned a shot yes he has. However maybe some concerns as he came into Wolves and saved them then and the following year was a disaster. I get they sold players but still the drop off was massive.

A preseason friendly against crack German outfit, VfB Stuttgart, please.

Every season bar last season has been a stressful drag, and even last season was stressful as we were going for Champions League until we had nothing left to give and just came up short.

Would be happy with mid table, the odd big win against the supposed big boys, reaching the latter stages of the cups and derby carrying on being derby.

Deciding on who's going to be the manager, a new striker and keeping MGW are the absolute priorities.

Hopefully not lose all three suggested players then add in areas where needed.
Definitely need another proven striker, having an unfit Wood has screwed us over a few times now.
I’d keep VP as well, he’s done well and I think he could achieve something here, the fans like him and he is a good fit.
As others have said, midtable would suit me fine. Another season like this and my hair will be completely white this time next year 👨🏻‍🦳

We must improve results at the CG, we've lost far too many home games since promotion and this season's return (to date) of 4 PL home wins is poor.
As already mentioned on this thread, lifting the elusive FA Cup would be emotional for many of us. You would have to be well into your 70s to have a memory of Forest last doing that.
