£90 million

That's what Deloitte has valued a place in the premiership as being worth this season with the new TV rights and the proposed parachute payments if we were to be relegated. Whether you believe that we're ready or not as a team, there has never been a better season to go up because with the sort of ridiculous money being banded about it'll only get more difficult in the future!

Yet more reasons to brick it about the play offs ...

Birck it? Hardly. We're not in the position of being a team that has gambled their financial future on getting to the Premier League and won't have to sell off the family silver if we don't go up (well, not for financial reasons anyway). If we don't go up, we'll be in a position to have another run at it next year - and if we do go up, we'll be in a good position to carry on improving the team with this additional income.

A side who essentially need to be in the Premiership to secure their immediate future, like Cardiff, for example, will be under much more pressure.

And should Cardiff make it, pay off the debts, will it be right? They should have been ounished a long time ago making the play offs not a possibility.

I've said on another thread that I would rather see any team get promoted rather than Cardiff, who have bluffed their way this far on money they don't have. Even Leicester.

I hope that Cardiff lose in the play offs and then sink without trace afterwards.

I'm not sure I get on board with this business about 'spending money they don't have'.

If they choose to take on lots of debt, and people are daft enough to lend them the money to do so, then that's their gamble. If it pays off, great, if not, they're f**ked. That's their choice to make.

For me the only issues that matter are such:

- If they go into administration and end up getting away with only paying 10p in the pound or something. Now that really is spending money they havnt got and getting away with it.

- Spending too much money in general, and pushing up the average salary which forces all clubs to pay silly money in order to be competitive. But this applies to any clubs spending big whether they can afford it or not, ourselves included. A salary cap of some sort is needed.

Is that £90M contingent on the football league accepting the premier league's proposals? If that's the case then nothing's really certain because I can't see the L1 and L2 chairman changing their position on it.

I think it probably is yes. I can only see the League 1 and 2 chairmam being told to put up or shut up to be honest. Lets face it, what the premier league wants, the premier league tend to get.

To be clear, they said that its worth £90m over 5 seasons if the 4 season parachute payment scheme goes ahead and the team gets relegated at the first attempt.
