Steve Cooper will always be the MAN!

It’s simple. Which side of the fence are you on?

Yep. Cooper knows what he's doing and I know I'm naturally cynical but it seemed pretty obvious to me.

I don't blame him either for it either as the last year has shown that if you can create a wave of support behind you then you can really strengthen your position at a football club.

Let's be fair your average football fan isn't difficult to get onside if you know what you're doing. We see it all the time with players. A fist bump here, a badge-kiss there, perhaps a cheeky mention about how unique the supporters are here and you're golden. They all play the game so-to-speak and fans are so emotionally invested that they buy into it. Every. Single. Time.
Wow. Talk about not knowing how to read the room. You must be great fun at funerals.

Alf has been sacked before.

If you mean „ball-sacked“, that is.

One other little thing that this media savvy, ‘does it all for likes’ ex manager of ours did was to randomly donate money to a charity close to my heart that he had no personal connection to.

For avoidance of doubt, the first bit of that sentence was sarcastic and the latter was not.

Steve Cooper is quite simply a great man.

There is being naturally cynical and just being miserable for the sake of it.

Steve took time out to go to primary schools to visit people, answer fan's letters back, he made a real effort with that guy that has Motor Neurone Disease and was doing a marathon, showed the kid that fumbled playing the Last Post around the training ground. Spoke time and time again about putting the football club first and what it meant to him on a personal level.

All that is PR bollocks, yeah? I'm all for differing opinions and that but there ain't a doubt in my mind that Steve doesn't care deeply about his football club.

If I'm being honest, as a coach, Steve did a great job in the Championship, did his job last season and this season didn't really do so well but at the same time, I don't actually think we'll properly understand his impact and departure from the club until he gets a new job and also, until some time has passed. Feels like more than just what he did in the dugout.

We've got battered by teams in the past couple seasons but I was proud to be a Nottingham Forest supporter being lead by the sort of bloke he is.

Interesting. I'm not sure Steve Cook is the best example of a waste of money he could have used though.
Marinakis doesn't like people wearing green, as it is the colour of one of their rivals. That could present a few problems...

Honestly, Marinakis sounds mental, and him and Cooper were never working out in the long term. All we can do is thank Steve for everything he’s done, enjoy the ride in the premier league while it lasts, and be there to pick up the pieces if and when it all goes to shit.

I was going to post about how I’m spending some time volunteering for the Peterborough soup kitchen again this year, after they told me they needed more talented chefs like me last year, but was worried that I was just doing it for the PR.

48 minutes exactly. Seems Carragher may have had Steve's ear given his lad was coached by him, or maybe it's all fake news/spin/Max Clifford inspired nonsense. Sorry if it's been posted elsewhere.
Clearly it’s just PR, according to some on this forum.

Having digested the past few days, it’s clear that Cooper has had a frosty relationship with Marinakis possibly since the Leicester 4-0 game. On a human level, I’m glad that he can have a bit of a break from it all, because it must have taken its toll on him.

Whilst I admire the owner’s ambition, it’s unrealistic and quite frankly irresponsible. I get the impression that Marinakis thought the Championship promotion season was the norm and we’d just push on in the Premier League straight away.

I bet he thought at Crystal Palace away ‘why on earth are the fans so happy with finishing just above the relegation zone’.

I will get behind Nuno, he seems like a good bloke… but I’ll always be longing for Cooper to return and finish his project. I disagree with the notion that Cooper was just a good PR man, undoubtedly he was clever at marketing himself, but you can’t fake that sort of passion.

The Powers That Be in the club have made one almighty cock-up.

I will be there on Saturday, grateful for the opportunity to get a ticket, but my enthusiasm for the ‘spectacle’ is much reduced.

I wish that we had some way of saying goodbye properly, but onwards we have to go, always wondering just what might have been.

Great comments. Love that they highlight the issue with quantity/quality on players.

Cooper did a superb job, not just getting us up, but managing the recruitment situation. Until the club wake to to how hard it is to manage players when there are so many, and so many are cycled through the club so quickly, then dreams of Europe will remain distant.

Also great that they recognize the players here are largely of lower Prem quality. If Nuno gets us anywhere near the top 6 he's performed utter miracles unless we start signing players of a much better caliber.
Yeah they were all incredibly knowledgeable about the whole situation, the Luton game as well being a big hammer blow. Some fair points all round. Beats the muppets on talk sport shouting bollocks over each other.

Luton have almost or shocked many teams better than us this season, being 2-0 up and not winning is disappointing but it's not as though they don't battle hard.

What is disappointing is the points we have dropped from winning positions:
- 3-2 vs Man U when 2-0 up
- 2-2 vs Luton when 2-0 up
- 3-2 vs W Ham when 2-1 up
- 3-2 vs Brighton when 1-0 up
- 1-1 vs Wolves when 1-0 up
8 more points in total and even a fraction of that would have made some difference.

Whereas on the other hand it is only Burnley and Brentford draws where we have recovered points from a losing position.

This shows to me we have issues seeing games out and also that the team drops confidence when going behind, a lot similar to last season really.

Also our issues with set pieces have been notable at both ends of the pitch which doesn't help if we're trying to defend them, and you can see easily how much difference someone like JWP makes to a struggling team, when MGW isn't even getting the ball into danger most of the time, or our attackers aren't moving towards it, it makes a lot of difference. Let's hope Nuno can work on these things.

The more the dust settles on this the more it convinces me the club has done the right thing or has acted in the best intentions. I still wouldn't have done it, but the reasons are logical - we still have a small backroom team under Cooper, we're not learning from the same mistakes, we're in the same position despite millions on the playing squad again, results and performances are getting worse not better and you have to wonder if he can turn it around. Nuno has taken PL side to top half finishes in his first 2 seasons after promotion and the Mendes links could help us this time given how close Nuno is to him. I may be wrong but the 2 times we tried this before were when FAH tried to sell the club to EM and we got in Pereira and Montanier before the former f**ked off too, and we got in that load of players... and then with Karanka who had links with Mendes but wasn't at the time a Mendes client - Nuno is his first, and we are PL now, so things might be different.

Just don't join in any pro Cooper chanting because it'll upset Nuno and will be blamed for any poor results, no doubt.

Simple question....were you at Wembly for the Play Off Final?

Did you experience the love? See grown men crying? Children experiencing something totally new to them? The pride and the passion? A sea of red not seen for over 30 years?
