I remember us being kept back by the police in the rain for what seemed an eternity. Travelled home by train that day. Arrived home in time to watch the game on Match of the Day.The 3 hour drive home soaked to the skin was worth it that day.
Oh aye... and what a ride it was too. Some of those players didn’t realise they were about to be taken on the ride of their lives by Cloughie.

My mistake there Cloughie, I was thinking it was the Man Utd away fa cup tie.I thought this was the Bristol City game in the pouring rain on a Sunday,Rocka-surely no Match of the Day

I think you may be thinking of Old Trafford in the FA Cup in the same season-which was equally glorious but
dry.
Both fantastic days out,Rocka-the 88/89 side were a delight to watch. My mistake there Cloughie, I was thinking it was the Man Utd away fa cup tie.
Absolutely, I went to both games. I'm pretty sure it was also raining at Old Trafford when the police kept us waiting ages on the streets due to Man Utd fans causing trouble? Both fantastic days out,Rocka-the 88/89 side were a delight to watch.

I drove home as happy as a pig in s**t.

Is that Tony Hateley?
I met this chap whilst on holiday in Rimini back in 1971. He spent most nights taking us out to bars paying for our drinks. I do have photos, they're on slides, I must get them transferred to paper so I can scan them.
I'll go to my mum's house, go up in the loft, get the boxes of slides out, plug the projector in, pull the screen up from the stand and I'll take a look.Is that Tony Hateley?
Christ, there is a few good players there.
And there, also….
