Does anyone remember sheep shagging Derby County? (STILL the worst team in history!)

First comment, talking about how mean the mail are for ruining Derbys good day
He's still a good player. The beauty of this is, every half decent player from the last 15 years that still has a shag left in him that they're linked with, will end up elsewhere either in the championship or at a club in League One who will offer more. Charlton, Ipswich, Portsmouth, Sheff Wed to name a few.

It's highly likely some players will feel for Derby. But that doesn't translate to signing for them. I think they'll find recruitment a long and painful process.

Saying that, Gary Holt will get them excited now!!

So instead of paying their creditors including hmrc, they signed players with that money.

Then when they’re rumbled, instead of selling those players to pay hmrc etc they get them to accept 25p or 35p in the pound and keep the players.

I just have one question - WTF?
While I totally agree with the principle, I suppose the argument is that HMRC without accepting a deal that would have facilitated a takeover would get zilch or close to.

Otoh with the change in law, forget EFL regs for a second, 25% or 35%/3 is the minimum dividend to avoid a points deduction but what kind of precedent could it set from an HMRC Business perspective to accept this despite the law change on Preferential Creditors.

Liquidation would have sent a real powerful message and given the decent ratio of onanists in the Derby fanbase I am warming towards the idea tbh.

The Commissioners for Revenue & Customs Act (CRCA) 2005 has a provision at section 23 that exempts from disclosure under FOI (Freedom of Information) any information relating to identifiable HMRC customers (including legal entities, such as limited companies).
Thanks although I have seen subsequently an email address for FOI in respect of HMRC. I'd argue such a large tax debt has a certain overriding public interest.

Wonder if ccing in a local MP is also an idea.

From glancing at their forum it does seem to be a concentration of arse. I know a fair number of Derby fans that aren’t like these numpties at all.

This is fair. Easy to extrapolate unfairly I guess when you see a regular and vocal sample size

That regular and vocal sample size though, have that forum AG times come across as a cesspit, decent to scuzzy ratio over there quite high in favour of the latter IMO.

They probably all got banned for speaking against the official agenda. Very 1984.

So looks as though the weird f***ers have got away with it with no punishment?

In respect of the EFL's minimum dividend, yes provided they hit it. (Football Creditors in full, HMRC 25% or 35%/3, same as Unsecured Creditors, fees of Quantuma and presumably MSD debts cleared). We don't know exactly how much to creditors has been paid % wise.

We also don't know:
1) What kind of Embargo are they under. The EFL have 2, maybe 3 types.
2) Signing players is one thing but all registrations have to be approved by the EFL for perhaps the next 2 seasons which brings me nicely onto...
3)...What is the wage cap? EFL have the right to refuse to register any signing or player which exceeds this- restrictions too on fees, agents fees and something else IIRC, likewise new signings must fit with this. Could be some fun yet.

Of course all of this pales into insignificance against the HMRC issue. Law changed in 2020, they have enhanced rights and yet...
Then there should be some arrangement to pay the rest back over time as well. Ie if they can stabilise in league one, paying the average wage and making a profit because they have a larger revenue than the average league one club, they pay it back out of the profit. For however long it takes. If it’s a decade, 15 years or more then so be it.

Instead they have only 3 years with the financial burden to partially pay people back then they’re off again. And the fans think the club is being unfairly treated! Horrible, horrible club.
Good point that. A portion of revenue allocated would be good and could achieve full repayment over time- would be interested in the thoughts of HMRC that they're already signing new players and looking for more.

Horrible, horrible club is spot on. They should be renamed Derby Charity FC but without the redeeming features of a charity. Clowes had to save them MSD debt wise, the training ground land is owned by Locko and it appears the taxpayer has had to take a large haircut.

Forgot to add, on addition to the horrible club or perhaps as part of it, contrition from their fans appears to be non existent. Grubby cheats for several years, still no accounts, welching on a large amount of debt- yes I was never really in the pro liquidation camp but that's changing.

Looks like it. Mind you to hear them talk you wouldn't think so, still giving it the "nobody likes us everybody hates us, going down the garden to eat worms" line.

Best thing Derby can do right now is keep their heads down in League 1 for a few seasons. Their reputation throughout football is going to take a long time to recover.

If they manage to finance a squad capable of even getting a sniff of promotion after having so much debt written off, you can be sure the hatred and sense of injustice from every other EFL club will continue.

Looking at the level of signings they have aimed for so far though, they will be bottom half anyway.

In fairness those on twitter aren't much better, look at the suggested signings here, no lessons learned nor reality restored.

There isn’t any decent frees left, the ones they are mopping up now is the very best they will get. They will have to buy players eventually.

Also it is hilarious how much of a U Turn they do when players decide they want to leave. They love them, the minute they are linked elsewhere they are crap.
Yep looks like Buchanan will get his move after all, and Derby will have to settle for £400k compensation. Another one they could have made a lot more on if they had done the right thing in January.

While I agree with the overall point, I'm unsure Derby fans are all that concerned if social media and their forum are anything to go by.

Werder Bremen say they have reached an agreement in principle with him, could be off there in theory for £400k if so?
