Does anyone remember League 1 Derby County? (STILL the worst team in history!)

Ashley is just putting pressure on the admins. It doesn't say anything about the purchase price, he could be offering them 50p and a Sports Direct mug.

But the £50m is ready to go for Derby County.

Ashley won't give the admins a penny, that's why the only option they have is Appleby, unless the admins want to waive their fees - which they won't. In Ashley's dream scenario he ends up the only option, which the admins have to take. He is backing the admins into the corner.

The 'news' is that Ashley has put aside £50m and wants to buy the club and its assets, including the stadium.

Same situation as reported on 8th January:

I don't get how so many don't see what he's doing. He's making a massive point to the admins and proving their incompetence... "I have the money, in fact I have that much money I've set up a bank account with the £50m in ready and waiting to be transferred".

It's a clever move as it's all everyone is talking about, will take a brave admin to ignore him and lush the club closer to liquidation, with no players, no stadium and no assets.

it does make sense - Ashley wants the club, he is not paying £50m for it either. (It’s not £50m also) The EFL are watching this very closely and aware aware of certain shenanigans being played, which has been a constant theme under the reign of Mel. So Ashley is playing the game and keeping this in the public domain in exactly the same fashion as the EFL have had to, ensuring the real story is told.

The EFL want proof of funding and someone that will pass the fit and proper test. Mike fits that criteria. He will pay £24m for the stadium to pay the MSD loans off. He won’t however pay £45m for the club itself which I would estimate is around the minimum it will need to avoid further points deductions and/or liquidation.

The easiest option for MA is Phoenix the club / he’ll be considering that if he does this, Derby will drop the 3 leagues which is the minimum as per FA rules and in 5-7 years the club will be aiming for promotion to the premiership with no debt. In fact the club will be in a much stronger position than most of its rivals.

You also have to remember that The Derby propaganda machine has been in full ‘russia Mode’ throughout this ownership and this took to new levels in blaming the EFL and others for their demise. It’s not a surprise half of their fanbase are completely brainwashed.

So will we see two sets of fixtures released today? One with and one without Derby?

Can't see them doing that, i wouldn't be surprised if they do make some sort of note that the derby fixtures are provisional subject to proof of funds to complete the season

I'd say that feels more likely at this late stage too.

Ridiculous that the EFL have let it go on for this long though. There should have been a hard deadline for Derby to have this sorted before the fixtures were due to be released. The EFL need to realise that there are 71 other clubs whose interests they should be looking after and that the uncertainty they've created through their inaction is going to cause those clubs problems.

Maybe the EFL will do it to prove a point?

But who knows? It’s become beyond a farce now, can see it being the day before the season starts and being still in the same situation with neither side The Admins or the EFL having done anything.

The admins praying some loon comes in with £100m to get them off the hook.

The EFL praying for the same to save them having to take any action.

They'll put out one fixture list with no mention of Derby's weep story. The fans will feel like they have a future.

Then tomorrow EFL will rug pull them again and issue a notice saying Derby given 7 days to present a viable plan.

There will be one set of fixtures. If Derby don't complete the season, their fixtures just get removed and they have one less team in the division. Just like what happened with Bury.

It will be interesting to see. Possibly one of the clearest indicators which way they perceive it to be heading.

How will 2 fixture lists work?
When the inevitable happens, will the EFL run league 1 with only 23 teams, or will it promote another team from L2, and another from the National League?
If so it isn’t 2 fixture lists… it will be 6.
I suppose when Direby are finally evicted, the easier option will to run with 1 less team.
All this to try and save a bankrupt club who tried to cheat their way back to the top division.

Had a listen to the new Price of Football Podcast this morning. Seem Chris Kirchner asked someone to pay May's wages on his behalf while his dosh was 'clearing'. The only people who would have agreed to that would have been those on his team ie Rooney/Stretford.

Of course now CK's out, he hasn't paid them back yet and they aren't best pleased :D

That's the worst thing about this sorry mess the EFL have created themselves; all this bending over backwards for 1 financially and morally bankrupt club is causing problems for 71 other clubs.

It's time the EFL grew a spine and set a final deadline for them to get this sorted. Give them until 1st July (next Friday) to sort it out; if there are any potential bidders serious about buying Derby, they'll have put a credible offer forward by then, if there aren't then the EFL can withdraw the golden share and put an end to this sorry saga.

I'm trying not to be snobby about being Premier league and that but have you seen Derbys glamour New Years day fixture?

Morning Crewton.
Oxford United then, what we thinking sell out? I'm sure Oxfords allocation will be snapped up within minutes and the few you have left will be gone. How are season ticket sales going, I take it you'll easily hit the usual 20k plus figure?
Exciting times
