I read a an article in todays Mirror about Nigel Clough. In it he states that he was never approached about the Forest job, but hinted that he would have taken it.

    Talk to me, Goose.

    Interesting interpretation...

I was really p*ssed off with his snidey remarks about Brian Clough being tempted to go back to Derby through the years.

He has to establish himself there somehow....... a story that cannot be challenged will do for now. Poor Nigel, between a rock and a hard place.

I wish Clough had gone back to Derby just after the FA cup final in 91.

Derby are taking a massive risk appointing a manager with no league experience and only experience managing one club outside of the league. It will be a huge step up for Clough jnr to be taking on. You cannot blame him for taking his chance and taking the job, He will gain a lot of experience from it but will he be given the time that he was given at Burton to turn the fortunes around at Derby. I suspect that if Derby struggle this year the board will blame Clough and he will suffer from it. If Derby do find themselves getting relegated then they have to show the forsight to stick with Clough as I do think he will get it right as a manager in the long term. Maybe not at Derby but somewhere.

Good article, Daniel Taylor is a Forest fan.

Although Clough didn't win the title with Derby in '75, he won it in '72.

They tried to tempt him back in 1976/77 season before we were promoted.

    He told them bollocks.

One of the positive things to come out of this appointment down the road............All the media pressure and hype has been removed from Billy Davies, so away from the spot light which would have been directed at him, he can get along quietly and prepare Forest for the second half of the season and this relegation struggle.

I have been loud in condemnation of the Dirby one, but would swap getting our bottoms kicked in the cup at Prideless to remain a Championship side. We have a long hard slog ahead of us yet.
