He played on left midfield for watford last season i believe. He played majority of his career as a left back though i believe.

He would be a long way from being my first choice left back signing.

If we want to have a consistant, balanced and well oiled team then playing players in there correct postions will be an important factor in our success.

Harley is a great Championship left back and at times a good premiership left back. Bennett is unfit and untested to a point at this level and Joel has is not a left back.

With a natural balance of Gunter and perhaps Harley i feel the old Square Peg Syndrome may have to be used for Tyson and Garner on the wings!!!!

Ello and welcome - be wary you'll be initiated with a picture of a squirrel doing something quite unusual.

Believe me Jon Harley is a no-nonsense full back with bags of experience that we need. Admittedly he is not a CB that we are craving for at this moment in time but he will be a good acquisition to the side bearing in mind we will not have the services of Bennett for another few months yet..

I think getting a natural left back would be a good move and would add stability to the side.

At the moment we have two converted centre halves, one of which is injured.

    Thanks for the welcome!!!!!!!!!!

It seems strange that some forum members (it's only my third post and I'm kicking off) cant see that if we do/have a natural left and right back it Free's up the players (centre backs) playing in those postions!!!

The question really is, are Lynch and Chambers not the right players for Centre back either!!!!!

Mills is great though and i would love it i tell you love it, if we signed him..........

Got a great free kick on him... remember he was supposed to have great potential at Chelsea, and Fulham paid a lot of money for him, but he's not really done it since. A couple of years as a regular at burnley and watford now though so he could be worth a punt. Certainly good going forward, i'm not too sure about how he is defensively?

Lynch's preferred position is centre half, I can't remember if we've tried him there yet.

Yes hes had limited minutes at Centre back.

Really feel this is a big season for Lynch's future at the club........

It will be nowhere near £500k. Anything from free - £100k more likely if it were to go through. My posting on this yesterday evening. :

Personal terms agreed and got the seal of approval from ND. Problem being JH was told he could leave on a free and now because big spending Forest are interested Watford want £100k. Billy trying to get the fee down as he was expecting a free transfer.

Thanks Chief (in Block Caps for extra power)

Harley has one year on his contract and played nearly 40 games for the hornets last season, so a signing on fee would be a reasonable request!!!

If he's not wanted and on decent wages makes sense to get him off the wage bill by allowing him to leave on a free.

I've heard this too from a reliable source in the world of football. Only a matter of time I think before he signs, just King Billy trying to get the fee down, or also heard that Harley will pay off Watford himself (50K) to make the move happen. Personal Terms agreed in principle, just the fee standing in the way.

Good point and i think its a view Forest will use in their favour but Watford will use the point i made (perhaps) to gain a little bit of cash.

I really hope he signs as we are only afew players off a mid-table squad!!!

Is he the missing squad number 3??

Jon Harley's crap and even Watford don't want him.

From Fox to Mattock to Spurr to Harley. Disappointing that after all the hard work we're still going to have a rubbish defence.

If Jon Harley is crap what the hells Bennett??
Ok he gives 100% but he can't pass a ball dives in and his touch is crap people might like him for his effort but a footballer he is not. A good back up at best
