Inspired by someone at work being royally screwed out of a couple of hundred quid even though he had Jackson (someone else had Farah Fawcett and claimed the prize money), and by Wotton's question of who is going to die next, just for fun pick someone.

I'll keep an up to date list on page 1.

    Rules:

You cannot pick someone that someone else has already picked.

You can only pick one person.

When your person dies you can pick another.

You cannot pick someone with a terminal illness.

All entrants must be below 100 years old.

There is a points system, whereby you get 1 point for every year of age at time of death under 100.

I'll probably make some other rules up at some point.

I'm going to go for Maggie T.

    I'll say:

    Chap - Fidel Castro

Does that effect the rules? I was going to say Kim Jon Il but I don't think we'd get a very clear date of actual death.

I think I'd still like to change. You said the Queen first and even though I didn't know, it still feels like cheating.

If it can't be confirmed it would be tricky to win.

I applaud your honesty though, nobody would have thought of somebody as obscure as The Queen had Rich not mentioned her.

And also... isn't that the point? You're meant to pick someone on their last legs.

    :P

We'll all know about it when Uncle Fidel finally kicks the bucket. Cuba isn't the country it used to be.

Many death pools exclude royalty for some reason.

I'll change it to whoever you want, Alex.

It's very easy to pick someone on their last legs. What I meant by rumoured to have died is that it is quite feasible he is dead already.

Could do one with a points based system, depending on age of celebrity, but it's too much work. Stick with Castro, they'll never confirm his death.

It appears that the last official confirmation that he's still not dead would be that on the 21st of January, Argentina's President Cristina Fernández met with him.

I'll stand by my choice. When he goes, Cuba will have days of mourning and we'll all be watching on BBC News 24.

After much thought, I've realised that this will prevent me from winning. Ever.

So I'm going to change (again!) to Nelson Madela. Is that ok? I'm not breaking any more 'rules', am I?

A common way to do this is to allow people to choose ten celebs.

Points are allocated based on popularity of choice (so the choices would be made in secret to the organiser). After a fixed period of time (usually a year) deaths are 'totted up' and points allocated based on uniqueness of the prediction.

So, if I predicted Margaret Thatcher, but so did ten other people, that would be downweighted, whereas suggesting Rick Astley when nobody else did would get me lots of points, assuming - of course - they actually die.

That would be over complicating it a little though.

I prefer the idea of having one person each.

Some might say that would be over-simplifying things :P
