Wonder what Billy actually values him at. I like the idea that they get a player on loan. To be fair to Garath and Mat, they are good players but need guaranteed 1st team footy to let them fully show what they are capable of and to get some vital experience !

I think Brighton are over-pricing him, he has 2 yers left on his contract there. We certainly shouldn't be paying over the odds for him. Sending a player there on loan as a sweetner is a good idea but we don't want to lose a player like McCleary for a season, Thornhill would be a better option.
From the NEP and other rumours that are around how can you tell that it is BHA over-pricing and not Forest under-pricing him?Originally Posted by *Dave, Red Dog* Banished from 606
The problem with loan signing is that the price will always increase if they do well. It happened with Camp too. I bet Blackstock will cost more than he would have in January.
We need to have more confidence in our ability to pick good players and try to sign them permanently in the first place.
gods sake

Sending someone like Matt Thornhill on loan is a great idea. It's a shame that Slade has gone in and Adams didn't stay the move could've gone so much smoother.
Hope we do get him though.
Lynch shouldn't be a regular 1st teamer, he's back up. Sod 'sweetening' any deals. Its £250k mr Knight or you get a mardy little boy sat on his arse for the next season because he doesnt want to play for you.
Very well put if I may so so.Originally Posted by clusternakker

It'd be ridiculous to send McLeary out on loan. He clearly proved himself to be a contributer and game changing player last season.
I have said for quite a while that it would be good for McCleary to go out on loan to a League 1 side.
Regular first team football will do him the world of good. He is ok coming off the bench as an 'impact' player but isn't much cop when he starts.
Hopefully, regular first team football would sort that out at a League 1 side.
I'd be happy for them to have Thornhill, or Davies on loan for a season. McCleary however is far too important to be let out on loan. Without him last season, or the season before that for that matter, we wouldn't be in the Championship.
He came on and changed the game regularly and was to thank for several points. In an ideal world yes, he would go out on loan to improve his game. We're at far too important a situation to be letting players out at the moment though.
Great point Weasel. I think McCleary has the ability to change any game and it would be great to see him start most of the games next season.Originally Posted by weasel
I think if Lynch can reproduce his end of season form, its going to be a tough choice between him and Bennett.
We dont know the difference in opinion between the clubs.
Knowing us, we've offered two conkers and a couple of Pokeman cards whereas they want 250k.
Of course, (unlikely) we could be offering 250k and they might want something silly like 1m.
He appears to have burnt his bridges there though so Brighton would be well advised to sort out a deal with us.
Was just speaking to a Brighton fan, he really rated Lynch. To be honest, give that he's an English leftback (rarer than crows teeth), he's probably worth considerably more than £250k.
He will be fine when he has had 'a Billy Davies pre-season'.Originally Posted by The Big Bingowski
Lynch will be fine, if we want another relegation battle next season
However, if we want to push on up the League then we should be looking to sign better players, like Gunter
