Thumbs up 40 Years Ago Today

Reminding me that tomorrow night I should have been at a playback of the game.

I was on a cultural exchange from Uni to a Uni in Hungary.
In fact for most of the game I was locked in a Hungarian toilet with what felt like most of my insides disappearing down the pan.
A mate kept coming into the bogs, which must have smelled like Stoke Bardolph sewage works on a bad day, to keep me updated with the score.

......I had the good fortune to be on a visit to enjoy the culture of Spain. The city of Madrid to be exact. I took the opportunity to attend a football match whilst I was there.

I was on hour and a half stand-by for the airport in a friends house right by Heathrow. At the final whistle they phoned me to say I wasn't required that night, so we went out to the pub.

Not very exciting, but it was an exciting night for me!

I was in bed with chicken pox, which was especially galling after the previous year in München.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

I was right behind the goal against the fence, you couldn't get more central if you measured it post to post.

A teenager literally shaking with nervous excitement.
