    Thumbs down Nottingham Evening Post

What a load of shit. Even lifting things from this very website. A putrid newspaper/publication!

NP hack, James Pallatt, has formed an 'article' from the Best Fans To Visit The City Ground thread on here, quoting posts and usernames.

I can't believe anyone buys that paper unless it is to wipe their arse with.
I bet they don't quote that.

They've been creating online pieces made up from random Twitter comments, with accompanying click-bait headlines for a long time, so using threads from here will be regarded as credible source material as far as they're concerned.

I just happened to look on there yesterday to see an exclusive that Forest had updated the redevelopment news, only to find that Sarah Clapson had merely repeated last week's announcement word-for-word. Quite frankly, I should have known better.

Theoretically, the copyright of the content of posts is held by the original poster themselves.

Hence why, the Forum itself is not legally liable for the content of posts, if they are libellous or slanderous or something, and why, if we were legally compelled to do so by a court, we may have to divulge certain information relevant to a poster, to the appropriate legal authorities if presented with a legal court order (and in that, the forum is no different to any other U.K.-based internet platform).

It would be nice though, if the NEP would attribute their sources directly, especially where they have ripped content from us (and anywhere else). Indeed they may have done so here, but I refuse to visit their website out of principle.

(Also, for information, if anyone would like clarification of the privacy policy of LTLF, please see the „Privacy Statement“ link on the Forum Homepage (http://www.forestforum.co.uk) as that contains the most up to date information, including GDPR topics).

Not really his fault, these are unusual times. James Pallat has been told to 'work from home fans'.

They were reporting online comment as "news" long before the current crisis emerged though Francis. They'll just resort to doing it more now.

We should make a thread along the lines of "crappiest local newspaper website", "laziest journalist" and "lamest article pretending to be news on the NEP site"

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

Tbh, I quite like that they feature comments from the forum, it's just a shame that so many turn into full blown stories.

They've got to put something on the back pages I guess, if it wasn't for non stop coronavirus on 5 live, they'd be quoting this forum too!

Papers struggling to survive, most will be wiped out. Then fans will be saying remember the good old days of the NEP.

I'd argue that many already do. The current version of it definitely won't be missed however.

Remember waiting for the football post to come into the newsagents about 5:30 on Saturday after the matches had finished well before sky!! Had all the local results and reports on the games! Think it turned pink at one stage?

I used to get it sent out to Germany in the late nineties, it used to arrive on Tuesday but was worth the wait.

Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.

The typical going rate for reporters is £20 per thousand words published.
So, nothing for the research time, the travel, phone and incidental expenses.
Is there little wonder journalists become focused on the maximum words with the minimum of time spent?
And in their hearts they know that the editors and owners of the papers have no passion or love for journalism.
They are motivated by click-bait ad revenue and therefore are passionate about headlines that drag the browsing reader into the article.
The article doesn't matter to the editor or owner: its the effectiveness of the headline as measured by the clicks.

The reports were far superior, almost as good as Captain Sinister's match reports!

I think it used to be pink in the late sixties or early seventies, and the Derby Evening Telegraph one was green at that time too, but I could be mis-remembering.

You're right Nicola, the FP was originally pink and also broad-sheet-sized. When the Nottingham Evening News competed with the Post for readership (for the record, my old man wouldn't allow the Tory-leaning Post in the house) it also produced a Saturday football edition.

Sat in the pub on a Saturday night, reading the match report and several other Forest related features. Looking up after 20 minutes to see a very pissed off girlfriend.

    Happy days.
