If you were the government after this surely youd sort out getting rid of zero hours contracts and increasing sick pay.

Only an elephant gun will stop me going to work I have a wife and three young kids who rely on my wage

Football might gain a sense of perspective and realise nobody really cares that much about who will make Champions League qualification or some Football League play-offs, when something important actually happens.

So you have a choice of bringing money home to the family or maybe the virus. That can't be an easy decision to make.
    Stay safe lad.

To be fair Barry, it’s been ingrained into the British public to carry on working when they are ill and you get punished for it if you don’t as well. One company kept my daughter on a trial basis due to sick days and gave her verbal warnings, despite going through tests for suspected poly cystic ovaries at the time.

The chickens are coming home to roost now aren’t they, they’ve created a load of stubborn bastards that won’t listen.

I wonder if some of the changes to people's behavior we're seeing now will carry on when it's all over (whenever that might be...)

For e.g. maybe everyone will be forever washing their hands because we've got so used to it? Maybe shaking hands with people won't be a thing in 30 years time, with people having a vague recollection that it used to be a thing?

    Who knows?

I've barely changed hand washing. It's common sense to wash your hands when you've been anywhere, when you go to the toilet, and when you eat.

Ironically, the last thing I did in church on Sunday (clean the organ keys) probably won't really be needed for anything for a few weeks, though that was because they were dirty anyway, and I'd forgotten to do it when it's needed it for a few weeks. Unless I go over to practise, then there won't be anything on for a while, with them effectively banning public services for a while.

I haven't had a day off in 12 years and I don't recall missing a day in the 2 previous jobs either. Whilst I feel that I've missed out on free leave I'm grateful that I haven't needed genuine sick leave.
    Yet!

The only days I’ve taken off have been through having surgery or something more serious. It’s never really been an option to just ‘throw a sickie’.

My paper round wasn't the longest lasting career, never was a morning person.
My dad used to love to tell the story about the day the woman who owned the shop came to fetch me from my bed one Sunday morning.

The hand washing... it's a real gift for the O.C.D among us.

    I don’t think there’s such a thing now.
Used to love my paper round, thieving milk money and orange juice, a copy of Razzle out of the shop whilst loading the paper bag...

There's been a lot of viruses, wars, many conflicts, crisis's.

There's been HIV, Aids. We've had it all.

People still do not use condoms. People do not wash their hands or take hygiene seriously. People still continue to destroy the planet, the animals, the plants and everything beautiful here.

People still do not take antibiotics or other medication properly.

People still hate each other, are more concerned about money, fight about trivial things and are over protective about borders on earth that shouldn't even exist.

So what do we ever learn? That's the thing. We never do.

Ads on TV seem ridiculously inappropriate and frivolous now. I wonder if they and what they represent will ever go back to how we saw them a few weeks ago?

    I think this is unfair.

Medical, political and economic experts are going to study this and build their models on it for decades.

Your average idiot will no doubt still loot the bog-roll in future, but civilisation as a whole's response will be more sophisticated as a result.
