The only thing they could do in the circumstances

What's pretty certain is that we won't be in a position to start playing games again from 4th April when things will be worse than they are now

Don't think we'll see any games now before the summer

There will probably be a new side, composed entirely of Zombies, competing when it returns.

I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

I doubt they will null and void the league season this far in, even if no more games can be played.

More likely that they will decide titles, promotion, relegation, etc on current league standings. Perhaps behind closed doors play off games too, for clubs in play off positions or where certain matters (i.e. titles and relegation) may be a bit contentious.

Cup games are another matter though, they could very well be cancelled entirely.

    Not surprised.

The only surprising thing is that it didn't happen sooner.

Depending how big this virus gets I can see the whole season being null and void got a feeling this could run for a while and clubs can't sue the league if it's government decision which it isn't yet but will be when they want to restart more importantly I only ever watch sport on tv so going to be a long summer

If we do start playing again April 4th the Derby game would be the first game after the break.

Did anyone else notice they announced this on Friday the 13th!

I think they should promote Leeds and West Brom and decide the play offs by looking at fixtures between current top 6 that have already happened and see who’s top... Norwich & villa to go down with next 4 having a league similar to top of championship with bottom team also relegated. Premier league here we come!!!

These are the lengths EM has had to go to in order to cover the mess made by recruitment.

Good watch on Football Focus discussing possible solutions to the season at the moment. One suggestion being put forward from the interview from BHA CEO is league standings frozen and no relegation from PL and top 2 from Championship go up with 4 relegated following season from PL and 2 from Champ again promoted to restore numbers. Studio heads said that wouldnt be fair on "the Preston's, Forests and Fulhams". Completely dodged the question about PL clubs helping lower league clubs survive.

Mark Pallios about to be interviewed.

If it drags on until May I think the only sensible decision is to call this season null and void

CEO of club who are currently 2 points above the relegation places says league should be frozen as it is.

Oh aye Ravi, it was selfish from his pov no doubt but I just wanted to throw it out there that it had been suggested, and to highlight the studio guys saying it was unfair to clubs fighting for places

I appreciated your post Zoe. It is complicated and as I've said elsewhere, the most likely scenario is that the remaining fixtures will be fulfilled at some point.

I wonder if anyone has the patience to work out "average league position at 6pm on Saturday, across the season to date". That'd be quite informative.

By "relegation battle", do you mean 7th, 12th or 14th?

That's the most ridiculous suggestion I've seen yet

Can’t see any way current standings would be frozen with no relegation and promotion. That isn’t fair on a large number of clubs looking for promotion from all leagues and also European places in the PL. Also extra unfair that relegated will surely benefit from the PL millions again so a free pass for their failures.

To add to that, will there be allowances and adjustments to FFP because of lost revenue. Will the potential Premier League money we potentially miss out on be accounted for?

Imagine Leeds aren’t allowed up, you can bank on them kicking a fuss.

Nothing has been decided yet so you can’t go gifting out rewards. Can only see the season being finished or scrapped altogether, no half measures.

And if they void the season, good luck dishing the Champions League spots out Man City potentially banned, Arsenal finished 5th last season, do they get it?

Man City’s first XI of lawyers are going to be very busy if it’s voided.
