FFP in the Championship is "proper FFP" and functions the same in the Championship as it does anywhere else. It's sole purpose is to prevent owners investing above a certain specified limit, otherwise punishments follow (points deductions, fines, embargoes and bans from competitions).

FFP is a restriction, it quite literally provides no protection from anything whatsoever.

Totally agree if they actually want to protect they would not permit chairman giving funds as loans and create a rule that owners have to lay down a bond to buy a club.

City could have gone away with it if they weren't so arrogant against uefa and fifa.

There were emails that fifa send to them telling them they would get a 60m fine and they would settle this. They replied in hostility and then again fifa proposed 20 and 40 if they won't comply in the future. Then they did exactly the opposite. Had some sponsorship contracts with Abu Dhabi companies owned by their owners that were 80% overvalued. One member, the chairman of the investigation Committee died because of an illness and there were City emails leaked saying something like one down, six more to go.

Ffs, they had it coming with so much arrogance and fuck'em all attitude against fifa and uefa. In an email they said that Khaldoon said he would rather spend £30m on the 50 best lawyers in the world to sue them for the next 10 years.

So, I say fuck City. They got what they were asking for

Paris had similar problems and was fined but at least tried to comply without provoking

In your areas, Nottingham and beyond what shirts do you see on the kids now? Always used to be United / Liverpool and then a smattering of other top 6 clubs. Currently it is mainly Liverpool then City, then probably spurs I’d say. After that Man Utd and your smattering of chelsea, Arsenal etc...

The scouse are growing again. Even my nephew is bragging how he's "supported" them for two years. I'm ready to ring his neck.

Show him the videos of the 1989 and 1990 League Cup wins then explain to him why we didn't get to play in the UEFA Cup the following season.

I say fuck UEFA. I'm glad City boo the Champions League shite and don't sell out the games.

It's a shame Brexit didn't let us leave the nonsense, how much money would the competition's be worth then? Less than 7€ a team I bet. I'd love it.

Can someone smarter than me put that Keegan gif up?

It’s unreal the amount of Liverpool shirts you see now. Was like that in the 80’s

He doesn't know any of them, nor really cares about football more than fifa and certain players.

Interesting that Germany is lauded for the 50+1 ownership of football clubs. It's my suspicion that this rule was imposed partly because the whole country was previously taken over by one unscrupulous owner.

    Oh, it pre-dates Adolf.

Although as you may know, he was a great fan of sports and the regime of the NSDAP encouraged participation into all kinds of sporting activities as they saw it as a way to encourage a healthy lifestyle amongst the common volk.

What 50+1 is really about is to ensure that fans can never lose control of „their“ clubs, and to prevent the clubs from being run in a way that causes them financial problems.

What eventually became VfB Stuttgart was founded by a bunch of mates in a hotel in Bad Cannstatt. And that same spirit is still hard-coded into the clubs‘ DNA, and every single Mitglieder (including me).

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

I like that you think that that area has only had one unscrupulous owner

Saw this on Twitter, apparently the group that decided to ban City. Taken with a big dollop of salt

How anyone can defend UEFA when these guys are making the decisions is anyone's guess.

The list of clubs they are affiliated is practically the exact list of clubs whose interest it is in retaining the status quo.
